Since we are posting topics because of little news I thought I throw one out there for everyone to kill me on. Bring it!!! :swordsman: :dancing:

So here it goes. I HATE Renegade as out hype song.

I just heard it yesterday on the radio and can't for the life of me imagine why this song was chosen. To be clear, I don't hate the song as a song. As a child I liked it and liked a few other Styx songs even better (did I just admit that?). But, it's such an odd choice with soooooo many better ones out there.

I would have choseen Hells Bells or Back in Black!

Anyone else agree or have a song they would have liked better?

    :D

It's ok by me. The fear and apprehension in the song goes well with the offenses mind set when facing our defense. We're the "long arm of the law."

Would another song work? sure. But this is tradition now.

I believe the song got its place from the 5 game streak to close the '05 season, 3 playoff road games, and the super bowl.

I say keep it until a new group of players is in command.

    ACDC would be too cheezy.

Hahaha.... Wait a minute. Did you just say AC/DC is too cheezy? You mean vs. STYX?!?!!!

I can deal with any opinion of the band, but not that they are more cheezy than STYX.

And yes, I know when the hype song came about, but always thought whatever connection was trying to be made was a stretch...

Now we need to get rid of Renegade? What the heck is going on with you people? So glad some of you don't run the team.

I love the song as "our" song. I always liked the song, and just watching a youtube Steelers highlight video to it gets me pumped up.

The Steelers D is the long arm of the law and they show some big hits with every beat of the song. You should see the other teams watching the jumbotron when its playing, they have got to be thinking man, they dont have sh-- like that at their house. I would like to see the stats though, I swear we have given up a lot of scores on drives when they play renegade. The worst wasthis year, Suggs actually sang along, then those sobs went down the field and scored wit 8 seconds left. :frustrated:

I love the beat and the hits!!

Renegade is perfect. The slow build up, the hangman coming down from the gallows, which I take to mean our D is coming to hang you, and then the way it breaks into uptempo with the scream. It's pure brilliance.

Im sure there are songs out there that would also work, however I wouldn't like either of the ones you chose, they don't work for me. I went to my first game 2 seasons ago and they played Renegade, gave me goose bumps, was totally awesome :rawk:

I lived through the Styx time. They were good. Renegade is good.
To say AC/DC is cheesy, to Styx, is to say Judas Priest is cheesy to Oingo Boingo.

Disappointed that Renegade is the song (for now), but it could be worse.

Did not want to have to say this, but...
When you go midnight bowling on a Saturday night, you always see the trailer trash douche bag(s) with the wife beater on playing ACDC on the jukebox and jamming until his meth-rotted teeth fall out.

I like ACDC better than Styx, and they probably are not as cheezy as Styx, but the association factor is not there, if you know what I mean.

That beginning riff is why its here....

"Oh mama, I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law" BOOM BOOM.....BOOM BOOM

Words can not explain the energy in the stadium when that song comes on. I went to my first game last season....Tenn game.....that song came on and roughly 69,000 people lost their minds for the next few minutes.

It was magical....Why the song...outside of them being a local band....I can't tell you...but I can tell you this...that song is here to stay.

I am a grown man...who gets goose bumps every time I think to that stadium when that song came on.

    HACK

Gotta say I totally agree with you on this. First Home game my son went to was two years ago and as soon as we got home he was downloading Renegade to his IPOD.(12 years old at the time.)

    Hahahaha enjoying the responses.

But only SteelHurtin suggested something else.

I've been to a game too, and the place went nuts. It was fun and enjoyed it, but I still wish it were a different song.

The AC/DC songs were just off the top of my head and have a great psych beginning.

That is one of the things i love about pittsburgh is the rock history there. I cant wait until june and i can move back home to beaver pa its been twelve years and o feel like a kid at christmas. I like NC but no place is like western pa

Renegade is a pussy song. It goes well with the theme of the pussification of the nfl, and the Steelers.

Renegade is pretty cool, and I can see all the reasons for using it.
Personally, I would choose "Seek and Destroy", by Metallica.

2010 Cleveland (Bens first game back after the suspension) was my sons first home game and the first time I had been to a home game since 2003 against the Rams.

AC/DC? Seriously? We've all heard their song. Some comedian did a bit on them a while back that was spot on about how they could make any song work as an AC/DC song just by having Angus scream the lyrics. He used the Hokey-Pokey as an example. Besides, Hells Bells was Trevor Hoffman's song here in San Diego for years. Maybe Heinz field could use a different Styxx song like, "Come sail away" and have Cartman sing it!

Angus isn't the singer, Brian Johnson is and it was Bon Scott before him.

I love the energy it brings to Heinz field. I don't get to many games but but when they play Renegade the crowd goes crazy! It's a tradition and here to stay

I like what we have but if we were to replace it this would be my number 1 choice. I love For Whom the Bells Toll :rawk:
