This game in Cincinnati becomes meaningless next Sunday in terms of winning the division and still getting the number 3 seed most likely. Because even with a loss in Cincy next Sunday and a Ravens win at home next week against the Eagles the Steelers still win the North if they win at home the last two weeks against the Ravens and Browns. So just wanted to point that out about next weeks game in Cincy not being extremely that important if the Patriots beat the Ravens tomorrow night.

I am far more worried about Vontez Burfict than whatever happens tomorrow.

Not trying to be rude, but anyone here find it intriguing he has been on his best behavior up until now?

Maybe Matt Burke (Bengals Linebackers Coach) slapped some sense into Jim but his actions against Steve Smith St. state otherwise even though said action was less malicious than what he did to Brown.

Either way, watch out for Burfict. I will not be surprised should he attempt to ramp up the intensity until game day; "Pacman" the same.

Eventually we all got to grow up and face the music and the demons in our heads that make us think that we are above the law and have no respect for authority.

Is this thread like a sort of rational version of the "Real" Steel "This win means nothing if..." threads? I'm not sure what to make of it after being so traumatized by his trollness. LOL!

Oh I know. Pittsburgh's date with Cincinnati is coming. That much I am quite apathetic about. Burfict's past transgressions is a different story.

With no Gronk, I think the Ravens win, therefore Steelers need to run the table.

Unfortunately that's a decent "if". The Ravens play well against the Patriots unlike us. We are terrible against the Patriots. They always use that 3 TE set and torch our D. It would of been nice to see who would of won if Ben was healthy. Although Ben was terrible today against an average D.

The Ravens game vs NE tomorrow only makes them (Balt) have a back door for a loss to the Steelers.

If the Ravens win tomorrow, beat Philly, lose in Pittsburgh then beat Cincy, they'll finish 10-6 and have a better shot at the 6 seed since they beat Miami and would likely have a better conference record than Denver. Where as the Steelers finishing 10-6 would lose a tiebreaker to Baltimore at 10-6 and lose to Miami HTH unless a 3rd team is in there.

If Baltimore loses tomorrow, Christmas night becomes a playoff game (unless the Dolphins lose 2 of their last 3 - not likely even without Tannehill)

That could be true. Brady played well last week without Gronk but it was against the Rams which is essentially a scrimmage. Martellus Bennett can be really good or really bad. Here's hoping he's good tomorrow night.

Regardless of what happen tomorrow night in New England, the Ravens still control their own destiny. If they lose tomorrow, but win the next 3, they win the division because that mean they would've swept us, then we hope for a #6 seed. Our game against the Ravens will decide the division winner. My question is ...if we win out, is there a way for us to get the #2 seed?? Broncos, Raiders, and Chiefs will play each other. There's a good chance the Broncos will miss the playoffs..

Not true that would end in a tie and the Steelers would lose on the division record....

    10-6 (5-1 division) For Baltimore

    10-6 (4-2 division) for Pittsburgh

These next 3 games are all essentially playoff games as they're all division games.

Your scenario would be true if they had beaten the Ravens. Since they didn't, Baltimore has the game in hand.

I don't know about a crows win but they still need to run the table to keep the winning momentum.

Running the table is the definition of controlling your own destiny.

They lost to dallas, so what makes you think they can beat the pats tonight, and by the way the pats has beat the rats before without gronk, about 9 times before with and without him, and they have won the last two meetings, tonight the pats will win their division with a win, rookie dak beat em, so I think Brady can as well.....

I can see the Ravens winning tonight, just to piss me off. I hate the Patriots with a passion, but I hope they win tonight.

If ravens win tonight the steelers are the 6 seed by virtue of better conference record over the phins and broncos. To me the only "meaningless" game is against the browns if the steelers have the division locked up. Until then every game matters.

If a tie breaker for a wildcard comes down to miami we lose, because head to head is the first tie breaker, not conference record:

TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM
If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.

    1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
    2. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.
    Two Clubs
    1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
    2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
    3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
    4. Strength of victory.
    5. Strength of schedule.
    6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
    7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
    8. Best net points in conference games.
    9. Best net points in all games.
    10. Best net touchdowns in all games.
    11. Coin toss.

exactly. That is what I meant. Steelers would be the current 6 seed due to phins, broncos, and steelers all being tied. Head to head wouldnt apply since Steelers didnt face denver.

The upcoming Bengals game is crucial. If the Steelers can make it out of that game with a win and no major injuries... they will be in good shape for the playoffs. I fear Burfict and Pacman will be out for a vendetta... and it's gonna get ugly again like it did last year.

No matter how you look at It, one thing remains constant. The Steelers need to win out and everything is fine. I'm not worried at all about them winning the next three games. It's a done deal in MY eyes. I worry more about Ben getting injured again and going into the playoffs at less than 100%. If the Steelers, including Ben are healthy, I think this is SB #7. The competition does not look unbeatable at all.

Unlikely the broncos finish better than 9-7, they have to play the patriots chiefs and raiders, and losing 13-10 to the titans sunday exposed some of their weaknesses on offense...

How about this win-win scenario - Pats take a commanding lead in game tonight but before the Pats scrubs are deployed for mop-up duty, Tommy Boy pulls a season-ending groin jumping jubilantly in the air celebrating his 6 TD pass. Ravens back to sniffing the 1st place Steelers behind and the Pats are in disarray without their top 2 offensive weapons. Smooth as silk.
