He is not a good fit for us..He plays better with more powerful DL next to him with the power gone we need a stronger player out there..

LBs could look a lot different next year. Harrison, Jones, and Timmons moving on...

    1. Go Harrison! You're still our best LB.

    2. WTF everyone else? Why is a 38-year old LB still our best?

You should just hope they don't keep wasting high draft picks on LB edge rushing gambles, and focus on finding beast mode DL men - which are easier to find, and play the 4-3. Just start DuPree, Moats, and Chickillo at LB.

p.s. Is Antonio Cromartie still available?

Well, you give your #1 draft pick with a broken neck a chance to recover and get his confidence back so he can play with reckless abandon.

I'm sorry, I'm apathetic to this benching. Harrison might give a slight spark in pass rush, but not much. The dude is done.

What is the future of this team? I love what Harrison did for the Steelers, but we can't keep trotting a guy who is almost 40 out there and expect to go to the Super Bowl now.

Okay so do we trot a guy out there that has maybe 3 sacks in 4 years. JJ was never going to be what we needed. This reasoning is why we are 4 and 5. Enough said about JJ, this has been going on now for almost 5 years. JJ and Harrison will both be gone next year and because of this draft mistake we will have to draft or trade for a pass rusher.

We need to break protocol and sign a pass rush FA in offseason. Ben has a small window left and we cannot wait for a mid round draft pick to be an impact player.

Keep hearing certain Pittsburgh media calling Chickillo "Just a guy".

Problem is if a 6th rounder that is showing more signs of improving in his second year is just a guy, what is your (four) year First rounder that is just now showing the bare minimum sign of improvement?

It is what it is, didn't like the pick when they made it, thought the flags were there against it. I believe there was a sack break down and he didn't beat offensive linemen very often. For most of them it was against backs or TE's. That's not going to cut it in the NFL.

Jarvis Jones is not an nfl 3-4 olb...... his skills translate better as a 4-3 olb

Implying Anthony Chickillo has not shown progress throughout year two?

The most intriguing aspect about Chickillo coming out of high school was that he was one of the best edge rushing prospects in the nation and had some serious athletic ability and potential.

    .... Then Al Golden happened.

It is going to have to. Something tells me that a defensive transition from a 3-4 to a 4-3 is well on its way for this team. The question then becomes who is the pick, because outside of Derek Barnett, Dawanue Smoot and maybe Jordan Willis (6'5, 245 Kansas State), there really are not too many options. Yes, there is Tim Williams from Alabama, but can he be trusted?

Not disagreeing, because I really don't know. What are the skill sets for a 3-4 olb vs a 4-3 olb? I've read that many times about JJ, but never understood the reasoning. From everything I've read and seen, JJ is a good player but lacks the strength to shed blocks and lacks speed and athleticism to bend and rush from outside.
