I don't get this going for 2 points after every TD. They go down and score their first TD and go for 2. Then Dallas kicks a fieldgoal and their only down 3 instead of 4 only needing another fieldgoal to tie not a TD. I know it's the beginning of the game but this has gone on all season and of course Tomlin doesn't say anything about just kicking the extra point. This will comeback to haunt them in this game or down the road. Who agrees this is ridiculous?

I hope not but now that force them to go for it after the next score just to have 14

Personally, with our success ratio, I think it's a good thing to go for it early as we did. Later, it may be situational.

I agree. this will cost them in a close game like this no matter if they have a high success rate. just hate that they go for two

You need 2 1/2 yards to get 2 points. Why throw it every time? We saw Bell run it in behind the fullback.

Chasing points killed us all game long.

This was bound to happen eventually, even if you have a high success rate, you're gonna have a day where it doesn't click. Random chance. I don't remember any belly-aching when they succeed. I don't remember any belly-aching when Tomlin, Haley and Ben said at the start of the season that they were be aggressive on 2pt-ers. You either think they are well built to convert 2s or you don't.

If you think they have the right O to do it, then you cant abandon your strategy just because of a bad stretch.

I'm blame the defense more you give up 35 points without turning the ball over. You deserve to lose!

Even with today, the Steelers are 14/21 on 2pt tries since the start of the 2014 season. So they are 'ahead' by 3.5 pts. 3 pt spread over 2-1/2 seasons isn't much. So at the end of the day, going for 2 and failing is an irritation, and going for 2 and succeeding at the rate they do feels like peanuts. But it's a fairly small thing in the grand scheme. And going 0-4 today, really didn't cost them today.

Sure it did. If we were up by 4 on Dallas's last drive, they are playing that very different. It's a completely different ball game. It may have cost us this game, we'll never know for sure though

I didn't like it from the beginning of the season when Ben said we're going to go for 2 on as many TD's as possible. I thought immediately how stupid that's going to caught up with you, and tonight it really did. I think Tomlin needs to overrule Ben every now and then. Think if we would of kicked the extra point on both or heck even one that changes the strategy of the whole game for Dallas. Instead of being down 2-3 points they were only down 1 point, thus knowing they win or go ahead with a fieldgoal. I don't agree with it but at the end it was really our D that completely blew it. 47 seconds left and only needing a fieldgoal and they go the distance for a TD. Offense looked good as almost usual, except a couple really bad games like last week, but the defense is terrible. I'll be shocked if we make the playoffs. Maybe 10-6 or 9-7 will win the division.

But what are the odds of converting an extra point? I'm guessing greater. So what really has the greater odds of success between the two? That's what it boils down to to me.

I thought it was a dumb idea to go for 2 when Ben said that at the beginning of the season. I knew it would caught up to them. If they kick both of the extra points that changes the whole game strategy for Dallas. Instead of being down 1 point they would of been down 3, thus needing a FG to tie not win. Really in retrospect it was the D that lost the game. 47 seconds left only needing a FG and Dallas goes the distance for a TD. I think our only hope is winning the division cause Baltimore isn't that good of a team at all. From 4-1 to 4-5 pathetic for us. Oh well still have 7 games left anything can happen!

I don't mind it on the 1st TD, but you don't have to keep chasing the lost points the whole game.

It also smacks of a head coach saying, "look at me, I'm bold and innovative!" when he actually has little idea what he's doing

You think if we advance in the playoffs and some other teams with good pass rushers get eliminated that they will let us borrow a couple of rushers and we can let them borrow Jarvis Jones and a couple of other dudes? LOL!

The Seahawks just tried a 2 point when the extra point would have put them up by 8. Carroll could be joining Tomlin in the 2 point doghouse if it backfires.

I didn't like us going for the 1st one. I felt like we just stopped them and we go down and score, why go for two and change the momentum? I guess I am still old school but we just gave the Cowpies a slap in the face and if we kick it we are up 7 and their heads are spinning. If we go for it and miss it like we did then it takes the sting away and gives them a little positive. JMO I am not so against going for 2 but right there in the beginning of the game I wanted to kick the ball.

I was okay with the first one, but after it failed, when we score again, I kick it and get to 13 vice 12. That alone would have changed the game strategy. Chasing it game was really a bad decision. I have always typically been in the mindset that you only go for 2 when absolutely necessary (I never liked the stupid rule calculation some proclaimed, as a single point often changes things down the road in a game.) I have softened a little with the longer extra point which now is not automatic.
