Stop them, no. Limit them and their effect on outcomes, yes.

There is a fine line between patience, immunity, accountability and incompetence. This team was a SB contender, picked more than any other team in the AFC other than the Pats to be in the Super Bowl. No one thought they'd be 4-5.

I don't think it's unfair for Tomlin to take some heat, publicly and sooner rather than later.

This team is paper talent, not field talent.

NE is the only team that I see that fits that description. Everyone else plays like Pittsburgh.

If everyone else played like Pittsburgh, everyone else would be 4-5.

Also, the Steelers have far more talent than several teams with better records. Conservatively I'd say at least a half dozen - wouldn't you?

Did you see the post in another thread about Ben begging Tomlin for more help with getting the team more focused?

Honestly though I put literally zero stock in all the people "picking" us. I look at this defense and what it has been in the past few years and then look at the fact that nothing is really done to truly improve it enough in the offseason and it just gives me no hope of this team being a true contender. I couldn't care less what ESPN thinks about it. I watch this team and know more about this team a lot more than they do. All they do is say "Oh well this team has some good fantasy players on offense so I guess they must be really good". I just don't think they consider BOTH sides of the football. I do and when I do this team comes up woefully short in my mind. I still think there has been a pattern of penalties that ARE incumbent upon the HC to stop and that would be be stupid "celebration" penalties. We've had MULTIPLE guys flagged for that MULTIPLE times. THAT, I believe, IS on the HC to stop.

Thats a really simplistic way to look at it. There are a lot of variables that go into wins and losses.

Raiders are 7-2. I saw them play a more mistake filled game against Tampa than the Steelers have all year. Ravens game was pretty close actually. The only reason they beat Tampa was because Tampa was more inept.

You guys are fooling yourself if you think this is just a Steeler thing. I watch a lot of games, its rampant.

I'm not disagreeing that other teams aren't inept - several are.

IMO, the difference in the NFL are the good teams (in general) have good/great QBs and coaches. All else being equal, if a team has a good QB (or in the Steelers case - a HOF QB) - they should win more than they lose.

I totally agree that the league is filled with really stupid players. I'm actually about to start a thread to try and get people's thoughts on why they think the ratings are so far down this year for the NFL. I think the product on the field has a lot to do with it though...

I would argue that Ben getting injured against Miami has more to do with their losing record than anything else.

Tonights game came down to 2 pt conversions, a stupid penalty and couple of big plays, one of which is on Butler for leaving Burns on Dez.

Tomlin been here a long time so I wouldn't mind a switch, I felt the same way with Cowher and loved him as HC. But in general, I'm not a blame the coach guy, I blame the players. They've been playing since peewee, does Davis really need anyone to tell him not to grab a face mask? It was stupid for him to even get involved with that tackle, Witten had 3 guys on him already and was going no where.

I don't disagree with that but would ask when Davis or Gay (who wasn't called) makes a play like that - how does the HC hold them or any player accountable. When I continually see the same type of issues, I wonder what the coach is doing. Also, concerned when I see the QB having to beg the coach to tighten things up.

Cowherds analysis is becoming truer each and every week.. The Steelers are not buttoned up and undisciplined. Just like he pointed out. Tomlin won't get fired. He should be gone because sometimes you just need to shake things up. At this point what could it actually hurt?

That was before the Dallas game so perhaps that is why he is not on this list. If they lose to the Browns he will be on it. People will be at his doorstep with pitch forks.

Cowherd is a Skip Bayless and Mark Madden clone... he'll say a lot of things to get certain fan bases riled for ratings. With that said, I think there's some truth to what he has been saying about Tomlin.

I called this **** out after the Eagles game. This is not a playoff caliber team. Ravens and Bengals both have better defenses by a long shot... and that will keep the Steelers out of the playoffs. I haven't seen a Steelers team this undisciplined since the late 80's.

Nothing changes....undisciplined. Unprepared. Uninspired. Every week. Clock management is ridiculous. Im sorry but that starts with Tomlin. He may be preaching smart, tough, passionate football but that isn't what's showing up on the field and, in every other job, when results aren't achieved, the person in charge gets the ax. It needs to happen in Pittsburgh. This isn't a knee jerk reaction. This has been going on for years. Its time for a change.

One that he was not credited with and he put more pressure on Prescott than anyone else. Even when he wasn't getting there, he required a 2nd blocker - freeing up others.

Do you think it was a coincidence that he wasn't on the field for either of those drives and both resulted in TDs? Prior to that Dallas had 2 TDs for the entire game.

Did you see Elliott's comments on his last TD - Defense parted like the Red Sea.

Yeah, great idea leaving Deebo on the sidelines.

Actually, Patriots fans in my office are complaining the defense was making stupid plays yesterday and looked confused and disorganized. Also, they report many fans often call Brady and Belichik "washed up".

All of their recent success has created fans as spoiled as many of those in Steeler Nation. The Pats fans here said fans at the game were walking out in the 4th because it was a close game and not a blowout by that point.

I'm not making an argument about the Steelers/Tomlin, yet. I'm still reading through the thread. But I wanted to address this point.

I will say that their goal line stand was pathetic looking last night. At least by their standards anyway.

I'd imagine Dallas has a pretty good conversion rate from the goal line with that line and Zeke.
