Yesterday sucked, but here are my reasons for optimism:

Ben always plays poorly shaking off the rust, he seemed to regain his form late

Cam was also playing his first game ever after missing a game due to injury, he'll only get better

DHB plays on every special team. Losing him meant a fill-in on all 4 ST. Danny Smith will have a week to get his replacement up to speed

Dupree is practicing now and can be an impact player

James Harrison woke up for 2 sacks

Shazier came out of the game uninjured

Eli Rogers looks like he may be back in everyone's good graces, he's a dangerous slot receiver

Green at TE should be an improvement for that position

Burns and Cockrell look like the real deal to me

This team could very well show up this Sunday pissed off and disciplined in their run fits and shut down the Cowboys. It wouldn't surprise me a bit for Ben to go off and for the offense to score 35.

But even if they don't, all they need to do is sneak in to the playoffs. If they get hot they can beat anyone.

OK - you had me at "yesterday sucked...but...". I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and an A+ on going all Dale Carnegie on us. It's refreshing for sure. The sad reality though is that by snatching defeat from the jaws of victory like they have done is that come playoff time, mediocre teams must play on the road. This team has shown absolutely no ability to handle the challenges of road play (OK - the Redskins W was sweet to start the season). Just a few weeks ago they were playing for the #1 AFC spot and now are statistically looking up at the sorry Ratbirds. They have 3 teams to jump right now - just for a Wildcard spot! That's crazy when you look back again where they were just a few weeks ago and yesterday's performance was so sick on so many levels regardless of who was just returning from injury or leaving the game injured.

Again though thanks for the positive spin - it's almost tempting to believe it (I suppose because we want to so bad).

I think we're going to lose to the Cowboys, Colts, Bills, and Bengals.

That means 8-8 - if the Browns, Ravens and Giants don't shock us, which could mean 5-11.

The defense is terrible, and we are predictable on offense.
Stop the run and double AB, and you can beat us.

Lol, I'm old enough to have suffered through a Dale Carnegie course. I did think it was a little too much doom and gloom in here yesterday. I still believe they will make some noise in the playoffs.

HA!!! I find it interesting on an optimistic thread that there's only 4 responses, 1 by the OP and 2 are negative.

Either way, with Steeler Nation polarized by the product on the field, much like the '16 election, the only positive I saw was that Eli Rogers was getting back on track after Ben finally got over his laser vision to AB and that Ross Cockrell almost caught Mike Wallace on that long TD which showed me he had more speed than I thought.

Both are fractured. Even after this season or election, far too much to consider; much of it is political and therefore not allowed on the site if I recall.

Funny in another thread you said we wouldn't win another game?

The biggest reason to be optimistic is that this division is a dumpster fire. 8-8 might be goof enough to win it.
