This is what a good coach looks like. Have we ever traded a player right before their decline or we knew we weren't resigning them and got a good return?

we got a 3rd round compensation pick for Wallace.

This trade appears pretty idiotic to me. If you're not going to re-sign Collins, he hits the UFA market and a 27 year old pro bowl pass rusher probably gets the type of contract that warrants a 3rd round comp pick anyways. Maybe a 4th rounder...

Why not keep him and try to win a championship?

Bellichick is one of the greatest coaches ever... but his front office work is bizarre.

Good call. Still not very good for one of the best deep threats at that time. Collins had one of the worst PFF ratings and apparently turned down 11 per a year. He wanted Von Miller money. Belicheat is 2 steps in front of the whole league. Wonder what Tomlin did during his bye?

Tomlin was probably preparing for the Ravens, since he's a coach and Kevin Colbert is the GM.

Rumor is Collins was also doing a lot of free lancing in terms of his defensive responsibilities. No quicker way out of NE than to not do your job and/or think you are bigger than the team. I can't stand NE and Belicheat but if this is the case can't blame him for getting rid of him.

I can't understand why Cleveland of all places would trade for him. They need all the draft picks they can get. He's a half year rental player. No way (to my knowledge anyway) that Cleveland would pony up the money he wants once he enters the market in the offseason.

They had a ton of draft picks this year. Maybe they're now starting to build with established players. Could see them resigning him in the offseason and adding more pieces.

Not sure why the Browns would trade any picks. Your 0-8 how is this going to help you this year? Collins is a FA after the season, I doubt he resigns in Cleveland.

The Browns have $57.5M in cap space for 2017. Collins will sign if the price is right.

It makes sense for Cleveland to obtain Jamie Collins. Hue is attempting to build a competitive team around him as we all know.

Armed with a slew of picks and some serious financial power next year, a player like Jamie Collins is the first step towards said goal.

Now... if Cleveland obtains Myles Garrett in next year's draft.... things will get interesting for certain.

They better get a QB first.

Collins is a solid player, he's nowhere near deserving the type of money Von Miller got.

Cleveland will have a high draft choice, maybe even #1, and yet I have faith, they will screw it up.

If Cleveland did not have an agreeable contract already worked out with Collins, this was a bad trade.

Here in lies the key though. Cleveland had two 1st round picks to operate with. Who is to say the likes of Mitch Trubisky or even Brad Kaaya will not be there by then?

Granted, there is a strong possibility that Kaya may not be there.. but Mitch could be.

No problem. The Browns are good at finding quarterbacks. Heck, they have found something like 26 of them since 1999.

After passing on Wentz in the last draft, they will probably get their QB in the top 5 next year.

I am not too sure personally. Keep in mind that Hue can turn lemons into lemonade. Granted, is Kizer still thr odds on favorite? Absolutley. In the same token, there is no guarantee that he will declare yet as he is still a sophomore.

However.. for me, Myles Garrett is the clear cut best prospect for Hue to nab. In terms of what a clear cut prospect can do, Joey Bosa is already showing us he is a dominant force in the game. Imagine what Myles can do.

Wentz isn't all he's hyped to be. System guy, dink and dunker. His ceiling is Alex Smith.

Interesting thst you point this out in spite of Carson's lack of weaponry not named Darren Sproles and Jordan Matthews to a lesser extent.

Genius again! Compensatory picks be damned! Those come at the end of the round. They get "Clevelands" 3rd round pick which is looking to be pretty high on the draft board!

I would be open to it if I thought it would bring in a player that could help us.
Jerome Bettis comes to mind. We will need an OLB/edge rusher in the draft maybe find one sooner?
