If they keep playing like they have in their 3 losses and they wont have to worry about fans showing up for away games, or home games either.....

The reality is after this season, the Steelers will have gone eight seasons without a SB win. The reality is the D hasn't gotten better the last few years. Status quo

Do you know how hard it is to keep a team good for a long time in the NFL? I understand that we need a SB win soon, but do you realize how hard it is to get there in the first place? We have a good group of players and our rebuilding is almost done. We need to be more active in free agency, like signing veteran corners and safeties. We only have Will Gay as the veteran leader of the DB group. The rest of them are young or average players. The linebackers and pass rush needs some improvement. Overall, our defense needs to improve, but our offense is good. Call plays that are appropriate for each situation. No fake FG's or punts unless you test them in the preseason before the regular season or only try them if we're getting blow out or leading by a lot. Plus, only go for 4th down when it's necessary. Even then, we still need to take all teams seriously and not judge them by their record. Look what the Dolphins did to us.

New England went 10 seasons between Super Bowl wins, that's with some say the greatest HC and QB of all time.

That's what I mean it pisses the other team off, maybe sometimes it works against the Steelers having so many fans on the road.

That is technically true, but in their 9 season 'dry spell', they:

    - went to the SB twice, and could have won either game
    - went to 5 AFC championship games
    - had a 16-0 regular season
    - average more than 12 regular season wins per season during that span.

And for much of that time were considered the team-to-beat in the NFL . I'm not sure that those things tarnish the resume of 'the greatest HC and QB of all time'

It's not like they were 8-8 the whole time. That's a damn impressive run, even if it had no rings.

That's true, but how many 8-8 seasons did they have during that stretch. They didn't win the SB during that 10 years but without checking they were probably in the top two for regular season wins during that span. You can't win it all if you don't make the playoffs.

Excuses do not need to be made for any team that goes 8 or 10 years without a SB. SB's are not like crabs in Vegas. There's nothing wrong with us not winning a SB in the past 8 years just like there's nothing wrong with NE going 10 years without one. Some people expect way too much. I'm a Leafs fan, I've never seen a Stanley Cup and my Blue Jays didn't go to the playoffs for almost 20 years. Cubs fans could be the oldest people in the world and still won't see a World Series.

The Steelers went 8-8 for a couple of years because they were in transition on defense, they had to get rid of the old guys.
