    I can see his logic.

I still don't agree with it - especially given that Boswell was not kicking well earlier in the game.

I understand is logic as well but you don't give Brady a short field if you miss. How many 54 yd field goals are made at Heinz field? Not many especially when Boswell already missed a shorter one.
You just can't squander opportunities when playing the Patriots. We had a short field with the better opportunity to score a touchdown. What if we would of made it? It wasn't like we were stopping them on a consistent basis. If it wasn't for two third down drops the score would of been worst.

Tomlin is a certified mouth breather. We won't win another SB with him as head coach. It really sucks we're going to be sitting around in five years when Ben is gone wondering how the f#$% we didn't win another one. He is just ungodly stupid.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day but I'm not going to bet on it. It was a terrible decision. It was especially terrible given we had a 3rd and 2 and decided to throw it. Yeah, Landry played well at times, but he's still a backup and we have the best RB in the league. Run with Bell and if he doesn't get it, then do it again on 4th down. That one decision hurt us more than any other moment in that game, in my opinion

I'd like to hear him explain the wasted timeout on the clear catch. Just a horrible challenge. I thought he was going to put the challenge flag back in his pocket then he goes and throws it out on the field. There was no way he was winning that challenge.

Using that logic I'm wondering if he ever remembers going for it on 4th down and getting it?

Tomlin has always puzzled me because he has no consistent thought process. He often plays the odds...then on 4th & 2 or 3 he tries a 54yard FG in Heinz field. He randomly uses his "gut feelings" at the strangest times. I might not be a good gambler but I'm betting the odds are far much better getting that first down vs making that FG. I know the downside was definitely worse for missing the kick vs getting stopped on 4th down. The Upside was far better getting a 1st down vs 3 points. We had time on the clock and needed a TD. AT the very least why not try to make that kick a little easier? If our goal was to get 3 points why were we throwing deep balls on the previous plays instead of just getting a few yards and making it more comfortable for the kicker?

He can say what he wants... fact of the matter this was a complete Gaffe on Tomlin's part. He F-'ed up. He should own it. He made a mental gaffe and I have to wonder if his coaches said " you are crazy coach!" Did his assistants tell him to kick it? Who the hell is he listening to? The challenge flag was another hilarious gaffe. I'm assuming the guy who watches the live video feeds in the booth was taking a leak at the time so coach just said "hell with it.. lets review." He puts us in position to fail way too often.

Yea, totally hurt us more than the holding call that wiped a TD of the board

Shoot, throw a deep ball and even if it gets intercepted who cares.... you got them pinned deep.

Yeah it did, because it put the game out of reach for us. That decision all but ended the game. The holding call that wiped off a TD hurt, but we could have recovered from it with good play and good coaching.

Seems like some odd reasoning there by Tomlin. Because he made that kick during his tryout?? You remember that but can't factor in that Bell was making chicken salad out of chicken sheet most of the day. And he didn't give any thought to the alternative? Great job being a tactician, you know weighing the options and stuff...

Speaking of kickers how about the hawks cardinal kickers missing chip shots to win the game last night, I loved that game defenses kicking the crap out of each other for 5 quarters to end it in a 6-6 tie, Arians looked like he was going to have a stroke on the sideline....

Ticky tacky call for sure. The slip made it look more like a hold than it really was. Worst part is he never would have gotten to Jones before he released it anyway, even with a half heart attempt by Hubbard.

I didn't watch the game last nite but was very surprised to see the final. Good to see those defensive battles though I agree.

I did watch, and loved that game, although the ending was just bizarre! It proves it's not impossible to still play defense in this league, even thought all the rules are for the O. They're was some brutal hitting, and I credit the refs for allowing them to actually play football.

I understand the call he made. He's the head coach. He gets paid to make those calls.

When he is aggressive and goes for it on 4th down, or opts for the 2pt attempt instead of the PAT kick, then most fans are happy when it works. Other times, he makes calls that don't work.

When the calls work, it seems the players are great. When the calls don't work, it seems Tomlin is to blame.

    Astounding oversimplifications. Meh.

I'll stick with the head coach who's been to 2 SBs, won one, and is managing to rebuild while not having any losing seasons.

    Go Tomlin! Go Steelers!

If he doesn't hold, Collins obliterates Landry. You see, that's why they flag illegal plays as "penalties" - because they allow you to gain an advantage you would not have had if you did't commit the infraction.

    Make sense?
