Solution, paint the seats black, the suits want these seats packed, then cut ticket prices in half, 2 fans with half price tickets is better than 1 fan at full price and an empty seat....

The suits want the seats purchased. And they are, week after week after week after week ...

Yeah, I think the context of that point sailed over your head a bit. But, you know, if you want to take a moment to run out into the yard and wave your flag around a bit to feel better, then go ahead.

The point, following the post I quoted, was that the NFL suits - or at least the ones this guy met - assume that everyone will love their product, whatever they do to it. And in attempting to extend the market, they start from the assumption that whatever they do will reel in the cash. And if they're given contrary feedback - like empty seats - they're not interested. A company that genuinely can't understand why more people don't stay up to watch their games until 4 in the morning aren't going to look at empty seats, rising ticket prices, and make a connection. They're going to carry on fiddling with the rules so there are more TDs, because that, in their view, is what 'the fans' want.

What's happened in the NFL reminds me of what they did in Formula One. F1 declared that crowds wanted to see more overtaking, so clamped down on the rules allowing drivers to block other drivers. The result was that overtaking was so easy, the races became utterly dull to watch. What they'd missed was that crowds didn't like overtaking itself, but the fighting for position involved when people tried to overtake - the very thing their new rules had got rid of. In trying to make the races better, they'd done the complete opposite.

I try to always stay if I go to a preseason game. I like not caring about the outcome and just seeing the young guys out there playing.

The big names usually are in really good moods to chat with the fans and sign stuff,

Yup, I don't know why they want the celebrations out.
Those that hate them, it just gives them something to ***** about. Those that love them, love them. This is entertainment after all.

Not going with full time Refs is boggling.

All the fines for dumb crap they put out is monotonous.

There are fans that want more scoring, conversely when you do that you make some teams that shouldn't be scoring that many TD's look overly good in some games and overly bad in most.

The disconnect is highlighted even more when you put this "more TDs!" trend against the typical 1-0 soccer score-fest.

And since tickets are being dumped, gotta wonder how many Patriots fans will be in the building.

I agree with you where the NFL is concerned. I'm not a fan of Thursday night football, and could do without a prime time game Sunday night after several hours of football during the day. For college, however, I like the idea of games on nights other than Saturday. With well over 100 FCS programs, it gives more opportunities for teams to get national TV exposure, and for a lot of those teams their Thursday night appearances are a big deal that they really prepare for.

As for replay, Bellechick wants to expand it even further to allow for challenges to have penalties called or flags picked up. Yeah, that will work great for the product Bill... It's already pretty annoying already.

The product is too watered down, Thursday night games are ridiculious. Players
body's need more rest to play at top level. NFL needs to tweak some things, the cash cow (TV)
is running out of gas. I don't think you will see these enormous TV money floating the next time around.

The people I feel that want more scoring are fairweather, bored with their own lives or fantasy football junkies. I like nothing better then seeing a solid Defensive effort. Guess i'm just old school.

I think about weeks the Steelers are playing on Monday, Thursday or Sunday nights and what I do with a full day on Sunday with no Steelers. A few years ago I use to like it I would sit down watch a game with the kid(he's an Eagle fan:facepalm:) and surf around to follow my fantasy teams. Now I am kinda board with no Steelers of Sunday and some of it is fantasy. Fantasy has become so big it flooded the market and now there is to much of it which I feel has hurt the NFL. Also the Redzone channel has changed the way we watch football now. Most of us Steeler fans are old school and like the X.s and O's of football, you don't get that with that channel. You go from score to score which is great but you don't get a lot of the true football. Now don't get me wrong I love the Redzone channel but I feel while watching it I am not getting the same feeling as a watch a full Steeler game, jmo.

Work and life has gotten so busy I hate weekday games where I have to go to work the next day. I don't watch most of the game especially if it gets off to a slow start. I will say this if the NFL want to do something play a game Saturday night. Think about it from the players side, if you play Sunday then turn around and play Saturday not that big of a change and totally better then turning around and playing Thursday. The NFL could do a good pregame with some real updated player news for Sunday kinda like they do before the 1pm games. Now from the fan side, most people can now go out and watch the game at a bar with not having to worry about work the next day. The same with having people over the house to watch the game, play some cards or just hang out. As a fan I would rather have Saturday-Sunday-Monday football instead of Thursday-Sunday-Monday football.

I bought the same package for the vikes game. Gave the regular season tix to my brother in law. Yes I stayed for the whole game. That being said, I can't blame people for not wanting to watch this mess

Well you can't point this year out cause of Xmas and New Years falling on a Sunday. I am talking regular season games the whole season like week 15 but without the Thursday game.

As a fan, I love the Thursday games but for players it sucks.

It's a misconception about the quality of games played, there are no more lopsided scores on Thursday as there are on Monday. It more than likely had to do with a series of blowouts during the 2014 schedule that started that perception.

Actually, as a per a study in 2014, there were more 25 point differentials on Monday then on Thursday, 19 to 15 respectively. Dating back to 2006 when Thursday play started.
