This is what I'm most concerned about.
Qb injuries, being out coached, injuries to key players, talented players being suspended, losing to inferior teams...etc..All play a factor in missing out on a championship run.
I can remember coach Cowher saying after losing the Superbowl in '95 that he thought he would be back the following year, but it took him 10yrs to get back to the Superbowl.
With disappointing seasons of falling short...our window of opportunity is closing fast

We got a long way to go before the season's done. A lot can happen. Still time to get things corrected and get healthier.
Get in the playoffs and anything can happen.

Last year was our best shot.

I'm not jumping ship yet. Tons of football yet to be played.

If Pittsburgh showcased it could beat a very talented Arizona squad last year with Landry Jones... then such an experience only further adds credibility to the legendary NFL fan quote:

"Anything can happen on any given Sunday."

I always thought 2017 was the championship season. So many young guys on D this year including three rookies getting playing time, Bryant out all season, guys like James and Coates starting for the first time, etc. I was hoping we'd be a second half team this year though. Still could be. Maybe they figure out this **** show on D and several injured guys (Green, Dupree) come back to help.

Just because we beat den doesn't mean we would've beaten pats in NE. Pats don't lose there and Denver has the defense. Carolina would've been a shoot out

Me the same. Next year will be much better given the improvements of Sean Davis, Justin Gilbert, Artie Burns, Javon Hargrave and another piece in whoever the heck the 1st round EDGE rusher or defensive player it is (bleacherreport has Pittsburgh selecting Lowell Lotulelei in the first round).

Cannot say that for sure. If Ben's advice does reach Tomlin, who knows?

Really it's depth that takes you far. All teams suffer injuries and besides RB our fallout from starters to backup is a huge dropoff

True... but this is for every team though. Not even the Patriots looked invincible without Brady in spite of the national media'a affection for Bill Belichek.

The reason the Patriots look unstoppable is the fact that Belichek is extremely meticulous. Every aspect of his opposition is dissected and countermeasures are set up to deal with big time threats.

Add the fact that Belichek teaches the fundementals better than any other coach... and you come up with a coach that has ruled a division for over a decade.

Lots of football left, but we really need to improve in all facets of the game
if we are going to get where we need to be. Plus every game played, Ben's career gets shorter
yes that window is closing pretty quickly. As I have said in previous posts, next years draft
Ben's replacement should be picked, and Ben can mentor him next year. #7 doesn't have
    a long shelf life.

The window is definitely closing. I agree that last year was our best chance... but injuries derailed any hope of getting to the Super Bowl. Steelers were an AFC favorite at the beginning of the year, but I can name 3 teams that are better, all around, at this point: Patriots, Raiders and Broncos.

Everyone overlooks the loss of Martavis Bryant. Coates has his moments, but he's not the threat that Bryant was.

Yep, this time last year the chiefs was 1-5 and made the playoffs with a 11-5 record, we are better situated at 4-2 to make it in this year than they were.....

The window is open as long as #7 is still here. Every year that goes by without another ring is a wasted opportunity. It's going to be tough to take watching new quarterback(s) struggles. Not every team gets as lucky as Dallas, who seem to stumble ass-backwards into good QB's.

One game we blow a team out, the next we get blown out; all by inferior teams. These losses to inferior teams "always" comes back to haunt us come playoff time...always, always, always has.

Until we can become a "consistant juggernaught", more than half the teams in the league has just as much a chance to win the SB as we do.

This "Bi-Polar" coaching and playing is just not gonna get us there

We have a shot this year as long as someone knocks off the Pats, or if Brady gets knocked out for the year. Other than that, not seeing much of a chance.

Then you have some very good NFC teams. Going to be tough with this defense. But every team has weaknesses, some more pronounced than others. It's up to the coaches to overcome them.

On our team, they have to find a way to overcome the lack of bonafide pass rushers. They did last year and then went away from it inexplicably. If that continues, we're not going anywhere in January.

Yep, with 10 games left it's too early to throw in the towel, like I said in another thread the chiefs were 1-5 this time last year and ended up 11-5 in the playoffs, if butler can fix this damnable defense and haley can have a better game plan with a balanced run pass offense we can be in the mix, right now it's on the coaches to fix the pathetic messes they made in Miami....

Always seems like "last year" and "next year" are always our best shots anymore.

Last year was a great opportunity for the Steelers to do some damage in the playoffs. Injuries to Bell, Ben and Brown killed our chances. We had Heath Miller, Bud Dupree and Martavis Bryant. The Steelers are "missing" those players in a big way.
