I guess you don't value offensive linemen? To have good players teams have to pay money. Not every team has players like Decastro and Pouncey that can do a lot of the things those guys can do. I think some perspective is needed. Check these links out so you can have an idea of what Olinmen are getting paid these days. Again to keep good players teams have to pay.

I think if teams could easily find players like Pouncey and Decastro they would just those guys the vet minimum.

DeCastro's talent and the market determined his current contract. Anything else is white noise at this point

steeler guru----- your kidding right? Decastro is worth every penny..... Pouncey I will admit might be slightly overrated but when you have a top 3 offensive line in football you have to keep them together. They are never gonna resign bell anyway just because if he misses or fails one more drug test he is gone for the year. They are gonna franchise him probably twice so we will have him for 3 more years anyway.

Franchise tag for a running back is 11.8 million, times two would be 23.6, why pay that when they can sign him for 5 years in the 40 to 45 mill range??

Heyward, Pouncey, DeCastro, and Timmons cost the Steelers about 40 mill a year, with that kind of business mind-set, you are going to run into trouble when it comes time to pay top skill players.

I like those guys, but they are 100% overpaid. They are worth 5 mill a year, not 10.

Who knows? With he reasoning we wouldn't have any good players. These guys aren't playing for a considerable amount under market value.
It's one thing to take a little less to stay with a team that has a chance to win and is a great organization. Also I'm sure these guys consider their families having to move. But Decastro isn't signing for half of market value.

Steeler guru is delusional and has no idea how this stuff works.

We cant sign our top players for what we pay this guy:

    LB James Harrison, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison is the NFL’s elder statesman, heading into his 14th season at age 38 to reprise his role as a leader and quarterback menace on Pittsburgh’s defensive front. And while one would expect a player of his age to shrink into the scenery, Harrison did anything but in 2015.

Though he technically started only one game, he appeared in 15, and had 40 combined tackles, five sacks, 11 quarterback hits and 29 hurries, an interception and two forced fumbles. While he was expected to be on a snap count for the year, and limited to around 25 plays a game, he averaged more like 40 or 50, simply because he was playing so well. In fact, Pro Football Focus ranked Harrison 14th among edge defenders for the season.

He is also doing so for a pittance. When the Steelers brought him back in 2015, he signed a two-year, $2.75 million deal that earned him $1.25 million last year and will net him $1.5 million this year. Once briefly retired, Harrison is now outperforming much younger players who are being paid far more than him.

I would rather pay those guys what they deserve, than overpaying skill players who get suspended or act like divas AB and Bell.
