Steelers signed former Bills RB Karlos Williams to the Practice squad. Is this a favor to Vince or do they really need another RB on the ps.

Didn't they have him in for a look a month or so ago? Not a bad move I guess considering we only have one running back on the practice squad right now.

Love it. If the guy is in shape and has his head on right, he can be a very good player. We don't have any RBs under contract for next season so I'm happy to bring some in now...

Making plans so they don't get accused of not having a "Steven Jackson" ready to go if all else fails...lol

I like the signing. He has long way to go until getting a rushing attempt. But injuries with this team seem to happen in a flurry and a hurry. So you can never have enough depth.

RB David Cobb was released so maybe they wanted to try another RB.

He has impressive stats, in 2015 he had 93 carries for 517 yards 7 TDs and a 5.6 yard average and he has size 6-1 230, and his brother Vince is playing here so maybe he can keep him grounded, it's a little risky carying him on the practice squad with all of his potential but they need to see if he is serious about staying clean and wanting to use all of his potential....

Why do you feel it's risky? Hasn't he been unsigned for the last month or so?

Well he was suspended for 4 games but now as soon as a team needs a back they will take him, being here with his brother to keep him straight is a huge plus to help him get over his immaturity..........

    I like it.

From just a RB positional look he has a tremendous possible future and a very good skill set.

Personal issues are a problem. But here he has a chance to become all he can be. An older Brother in his ear who does everything right to succeed and loves his employer. Knowledge that if he does clean up his act and put football first he'll be able to succeed personally and professionally but also most likely if he doesn't he'll be thrown on the scrap heap.

It's a low risk possible high return move.

I feel it was a time to interview him and then have a discussion with Vince. Having brothers on the same team can create dynamics not common on a football team and to add in the incoming sibling has been a player not conforming to established protocols complicates that even more.

Glad they didn't rush into it.

Karlos can play! Last year he scored a bunch of touchdowns. I never really understood what happened to him (gained weight in off-season?)...

If his head and his weight are in check you gotta love the signing. It shouldn't be hard to replace toussaint,I think Williams has more upside for sure. I would really Like to see someone who we can depend on in mop up duty because I hate seeing Bell out there late and I don't really like a cold DWill trying to be a closer...

He could be cheap depth for 2017, also playoff time if there are injuries like last season.

That's what I was thinking. Listening to SNR they were saying he had to be on a team before his suspension could be served.

The substance abuse policy, which covers either recreational drugs or performance-enhancing drugs, allows for a suspension after the player has entered Stage Two of the program, which is reached by failing drug tests or refusing the steps of a drug treatment program. If Williams completes the intervention program without additional incidents, which lasts two full seasons, he will return to a clean slate.
