We absolutely could. It would take up a large part of our remaining cap, but we're actually in a pretty good cap situation moving forward. I think Bell will come in around 8-9mil. I might've low balled him a bit. Those guys are so important to our success that we'd be stupid to let them go

 

It's Ben team until he retires. AB has been the glue when Bell was hurt the last two season and suspended. If I had to chose between AB and Bell, Bell would go. Not that I don't think he's dynamic but I think DWill or even Richardson can carry us in the terms of getting by. But I hope we keep all three until Ben decides to hang it up.

 

His stats vs the Jets were maybe mediocre for him, but 1 td and 80 some yards is above avg. Bell is great, don't get me wrong, but I think AB is a bit more reliable; just a bit. Plus the underneath option route that Bell was catching all night long was wide open because AB is there.

Someone that actually gets it. AB is far and away the best football player on this team.
How many games has AB missed in his career? How many games has LB missed in his career?
How many teammates, coaches, scouts, FO people ,fans has LB let down because of his suspensions? Now who is more valuable? LOL not even close.

 

Do you people even realize how great bell is? He is marshall faulk with power. He could stand up a bliztzing suggs and then catch a 20 yd out with one hand. He is a matchup nightmare. The jets stacked up the middle so he just ran around the line and caught 9 passes. We would have had a much better chance at beating denver last year with bell than brown and it is not even close.............

That's a pretty impressive deduction.... considering AB had 180 yards and 2 TDs against the best secondary in football (Denver).

Didn't say they were. But as far as back up's go. Williams is the best, than anyone behind Antonio Brown or Ben.

Bell is a much more skilled player than D will. But, you can still win and contend with D-Will.

 

Bell would not be as effective on another team unless he went somewhere with a QB as good as Ben or better. If Bell is smart... he'll stay in Pittsburgh until Ben retires.

Ben is def the one you can't lose. I think losing Brown would really hurt. Not sure we can over come having him out, although we do have some talented WR's on the team.

 

Other than a forearm shiver from Burf-ass, has AB ever missed anytime (really not sure)? Bell has had suspensions and injury issues. Don't get me wrong, they are both awesome and would not want to lose either. But the best ability, is......availability.

 

Agreed. This is a pass oriented NFL, due to rules slanted that way. AB was doubled up almost the whole game, still had good stats, and is responsible for half of Coates production

 

Last year after the Denver playoff game someone started a thread badmouthing about Fitzgerald Toussaint and it got plastered with disagree.

 

Of course he meant the playoff game... the point is, we have evidence that AB made a huge impact on the game against Denver in the regular season. We also know that Bell did NOT play in that game... and the Steelers won. So why would anyone come to the conclusion that Bell would've made a bigger difference than AB against Denver in the playoffs, when we have actual evidence that AB make an ENORMOUS difference the last time we played Denver.

It's an illogical statement based on a massive amount of nothing.

So true. NFL QB is the most difficult position in all of sports. There are about half a dozen people in the world that are great at it. There is another half dozen that are good at it. That's all. Fortunately, we are fans that get to watch one of the greats play on Sundays.
