Took a look at stats and it seems you are right... second after VW in tackles. Guess I loose track when things make it into the backfield (and certainly i'm not seeing when his coverage is forcing the ball to go elsewhere). I'll admit i'm wrong as long as you don't tell my wife.

So I'm the only one who wanted to smash something after the 4th drop by Coates? I give the dude praise for the TD's but against a tougher opponent, that could very well cost us a game.

Maybe or maybe his 2 TDs help them win like it did today.

Coates gets open, a lot, he'll make far more plays to help us then hurt us.

    Losers:
Coates,I know he had 100+ yards receiving but he might've had more drops in the game than Wheaton has had in his career( yeah I know that's an exaggeration)

PFF didn't rate Mitchell in the top five of Steelers defensive players today, so maybe your eyes are deceiving you. He had a few good hits but he wasn't dynamic in any aspect today.

I can see the point though Glenn, he always seems a step late to stop a pass or he goes for the huge hit to break up a play instead of wrapping the guy up and putting him on the ground. While he is playing at a high level I think he improves those two areas he is probowl this year

Yeah, this was my point. He's not the one I think of when it comes to missing tackles... that seems to come mostly from the LB core (my imagination?). He *seems* to be tackling solidly... just which he could get in there and disrupt more of the middle-stuff that always hurts us. Maybe this is all part of the bend-but-dont-break mindset?

Alright Glenn.. I am back.. just got finished watching.

Here we go.. as always from greatest to least.

    Winners:

    Chris Boswell and Jordan Berry:

Considering this duo is arguably the best special teams duo in the league.. it is only befitting to have them top my list. This is quite possibly the most underrated aspect of this team. Yes.. Ben, Brown and Bell are a combined three headed monster that few if any can match up.. but as many of us invested sports fans know... field possession and those key field goals can sometimes change the outcome of the game.

Yes.. Pittsburgh did more than enough damage with the "Killer Bs"... but the other two "Bs" had a great day all their own; especially Berry... who really should be generating some noise as a Pro Bowler. Maybe it should be Ben, Brown, Bell, Boswell, and Berry. Objections?... Thought so.

    Mike Munchak:

At this point... it does not matter who gets in there honestly at offensive lineman. Last year.. no Beachum.. no Pouncey. This year.. no Foster (1 week) and no Gilbert (your guess is as good as mine as to when he returns) and the offensive line still plays like a well oiled machine. Granted.. it does help that there is some serious talent (Pouncey, DeCastro), serious upside (Villanueva), or strong depth (Finney and another who will be released soon) but Munchak has done nothing less than a tremendous job in transforming what was a weakness for Pittsburgh in years ago into a strength for the team..

    Speaking of that depth..

    Chris Hubbard:

..... wow. What. A. Peformance. To say that Hubbard silenced his critics this week is an understatment. Even when he was alone by himself... he looked very impressive. Against the likes of Leonard Williams, Sheldon Richardson, and Muhammed Wilkerson... Hubbard held his own. Even when Bowles did the predictable and attempted to shift his focus on Hubbard by allowing Williams to cross with Richardson or McClendon.. Hubbard did a great job; with or without help. Excellent leverage.. superb hand placement.. and great footwork in the run and pass. Granted.. having Gilbert active does help as Hubbard can be used as an extra lineman.. but either way... against an elite talented defensive line.. Hubbard played exceptionally. Who knows how long Gilbert will be out... but at this point.. if Hubbard can continue performances like this one... then adding him in goal line situations or having him as an extra for running situations should not be that much of a dicussion.. let alone a thought.

    Anthony Chickillo:

It was only a matter of time before Chickillo was due for a breakout game. Against a suspect Jets offensive line.. he got his shot. Generated consistent pressure and was efficient in setting the edge. Most impressive was his first sack of his career and the way he got it. Showed one thing that many great rushers have..

    1. Bend
    2. Go to move

Granted.. it was one game.. but he is able to build off of this.. when Dupree comes back... this edge rushing corps will be something to watch for soon after.

    Sammie Coates:

A case of dropitis.... but having your first multi touchdown game of your career and building your league leading catches of over 40 yards is nothing to get too worried about. Coates continues to round out his skillset; culminating into another first for him in his first ever 100+ receiving yard game. He is getting better and better in route separation, his blocking is improving, and his route running is becoming more precise. If he can aliviate those catch woes... Antonio Brown may have more big games in store for than without help.. even if he is the best receiver in football.

All three picks of the 2016 draft:

For those of you reading this... I am tired of separating these three and having to do separate analyses on them. This is a cop out move for sure... but given the fact that Burns and Davis have improved their tackling and Hargrave is helping out that defense more than people are giving him.. I see no reason to. These three.. along with the likes of Dupree, Tuitt, and Vince Williams, are steadily rising as a unit and the cohesion is getting stronger to the equivalent of "Gorilla Glue. Even though this "glue" is still solidifying.. it is getting stronger each and every week. When the big hitters come back.. look out.

    Mike Mitchell:

The enforcer of the team. Period. Big hits and solid coverage throughout the game. His game has always revolved around setting the tempo.. and today was a prime example as to why Pittsburgh signed him in 2014. He still does not have an interception... but given the fact that he still has yet to give up a deep ball... I am okay with that. Speaking of exceptional play.

    Jordan Dangerfield:

Pittsburgh just finds new ways to unearth talent from the UFDA graveyard. Dangerfield is another prime example of another chapter in the book "Tomlin's Treasures". He also has yet to give up the deep ball and has delivered some sound tacking. Add his coverage abilities and you are looking at one of the more under the radar tandems right now in the NFL.

    Vince Williams:

To round out my list... Mr. Consistent does it again. Leading the team in back to back weeks in tackles is definitely a statement for sure. Adding in Lawrence Timmons eight tackles with Williams' nine accounts for 17 total tackles. That is an absurd level of production. However.. even without Lawrence Timmons tackle totals is his continued improvement in coverage. Given the fact that Ryan Shazier is unable to stay healthy.. to say his absence is not noticeable is accurate. With Shazier though... behold arguably the best three headed monster linebacking corps in the league.

Quite a bit of winners... now for the losers..

    Losers:

    Fake Field Goal:

It seems this point of interest is the flavor of the day... and why would it not be? Jordan Berry is a great punter... but not a great athelte. It would have been better to just kick the field goal... but considering that:

A.) It did not result in any momentum shift.

    and

B.) Pittsburgh already had control of the game...

This "Losers" segment is really more of nitpicking than anything.

I think too many people like the defensive player that gives a big hit to a WR (and celebrates ) after a 14 yard gain on 3rd and 11. The enforcer type safety had never been more irrelevant than right now. Today's NFL requires ball hawk type DB's.

    Losers-Jets...

But I liked the dominating second half. I'll give some credit to the coaches.

The o line is paying dividends.

    Ben is on fire.

    Mitchell and VW look great.

Cockrell is often in great position but just needs a little polish.

No bueno- Sending Jordan Berry running for his life when he is an crucial part of this teams success

I really think Landry should be holding fg's. Anyone know why he doesn't?

I really liked what I saw yesterday, someone here pointed out these are the game we use to let get away from us with lack of focus. I have said the Jets have a lot of talent and with a real QB could be Super Bowl contenders. We caught them at the right time as they were banged up a little before the game and a ton after the game. With that said....

    Winners:

Ben....the guy just keeps getting better. That long ball in the beginning of the game was right on the money. Later in the game when we had the lead he was able to lead a drive to eat the clock. This is something that in the past we had trouble with and he has become a solid leader and game manager.

Bell....Yeah Dwill played well while he was out but watching this guy run and catch passes is truly amazing.

Coates....I was one of them guys who screamed at the tv while he had a few drops however he did come thru to start the game and set the ton and went on to have a very nice game.

The Outlaw....James is turning into the TE we have been looking for the last few years to stewp in for Heath. Now I know he will not ever be Heath but he is off to a very nice start, he can catch and he is turning into a solid blocker.

The Oline......every week you are keeping Ben upright nice job. These guys are opening holes and getting downfield to extend the play(pouncey), also nice bounce back DD. Hubbard great just in the fill in start.

JJ......Jarvis had a solid game, I for one always point out when he has a bad game so I will make sure I give him his due. He made a nice read on that option play to shut that down.

Chickillo......Love to see him taking that next step cause let's face it we are a little thin at olb. Nice job on the pass rush and the sack, keep building on this game.

Cockrell......Yeah he had a little rough of a day but guys he went one on one with Marshall! I was scream for them to give him help but when I stopped and thought about it(after the game) he reallydid a good job.

The coaching staff.........other then the fake fg call what a game plan. Muncheck has work magic and Haley has called a great game. Butler has made a few adjustments and the D is getting better each week, we seam to be flawless on special teams as well. Tomlin get the blame when things go bad so tip of the hat to him here as he is the leader of all these guys.

Not gonna name a loser, how can you after this game........
