I notice this same phenomenon in other games. I started looking for it several seasons ago. The refs let left tackles get away with it very often.

I like Cockrell's intensity and aggressiveness. Should they give him a shot at the opposing team's #1 WR? Wouldn't he only need to cover for about 3 seconds given an effective pass rush?

I'd rather see them get torched trying to apply pressure than sitting back and waiting on the dagger.

Thats not it. They were 19th in tackling last year but still brought pressure and were 3rd in sacks with 48.

Eventually they will start having Burns press. They didn't draft a pressman to play zone.

Not very confident in the wrath part. The way Reid has had success in the screen game previously, they should be able to get their chances on scoring. Alex Smith isn't exactly pressing the ball deep downfield.

Sidenote - not sure what happened to Knile Davis in KC. I always thought he did well when he came in. He seems to be in the doghouse this year. Spencer Ware has really stepped up but still..

I tend to agree with Turtle here. Not so sure we can count on any wrath being laid out to KC. They seem to always give us fits.

I do believe that we will have a better showing despite the fact that we are pretty beat up right now.

The offense will be fine because one of the best players in the league will be back on the field. He alone creates space for AB to do his thing.

The defense I expect to be better, but I think we need to finally start bringing the house at times to help create some splash plays. We will be playing Burns AND Gilbert this week, let's let them do what they do best...play some press. It doesn't need to be every down, but some.

If it's any consolation Ben has beat the chiefs the last 3 times he started against them, my concern is can we cover their receivers and tight ends with the defense I saw sunday, and if butler doesnt put a spy on alex smith he will rack up big yards against those underneath running lanes we have been leaving open in these prior games, and smith is a dangerous runner when he gets a lane....And by the way, I dont want to see a repeat of this chiefs defense sunday night:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs returned two turnovers for touchdowns, intercepted three passes in the end zone and forced eight turnovers total in a 24-3 victory over the hapless New York Jets on Sunday.

Bingo. Same with Gilbert. Ideally, those are your press corners with Gay in the slot (not that there's anything wrong with that). Get creative with pressure and let those guys use their athletic ability.

Guys are thinking too much out there in zone.

Here are the missed tackles this Team is getting a lot worse not better ..You can't have your press man on a island if he can't tackle ...Burns is a bust or a slot CB at best unless he can get better at getting the guy on the ground after the catch....Davis is looking very bad as well...

Might be a little worse at this point than last year because 2 rookies are playing but tackling was still bad and they still blitzed.

It's only 3 weeks, Burns and Davis will improve.

No I want to start the young guys provided we picked the right young guys to start with ...I really didn't like either of these 2 ,but I decided to defer to our staff before complaining ..So yes now I am complaining I think we missed on both and time will tell , but they look bad even for Rookies ..Heck they look bad for HS players at this point...

It takes really good coaching to prepare rookie DBs for a game, we cant even get the veterans to play solid defense let alone the rookies, I hate to say this but belichick plays rookies on offense and defense who look like vets and are prepared when they are on the field, lets call it what it is we have poor coaching hurting this team right now on both sides of the ball...............

I don't know about wrath, but usually when they trot out and old player to honor them on a prime time game at home, they do pretty darn well.

Kevin Greene should give us a boost. Lloyd is gonna be in the house too. Maybe we can suit them up ;)

    Maybe just a touch harsh...

I'm willing to live with some of the growing pains from the rookies but I like the fact they are getting the experience and will be that much better at the end of the season with regards to knowing the system/communications. I hope Davis only misses a limited amount of time so he can get back in there.

Everyone, veterans and rookies, need to get their sheet together on the tackling though. When it's affecting everyone, then it starts to direct blame at the coaches imo. We've been griping about this last year as well. IIRC last year, Butler said the guys should be working on their tackling after practice. Which indicates two things - someone in the media asked him about the poor tackling LAST year (still an issue this year) and that the staff is not doing drills during the regularly scheduled practices. Granted, I'm not at the practices and don't know if they are or not. That was my take from the phrasing of the Q&A.

Hows that? You pimped Artie pre draft. Now he's getting off to a slow start and you never liked him.

Ben best shake off the webs and the O Line better have a steller day because the KC pass rush is no joke. As we all saw in last weeks contest the Eagles brought the D. Our D? Who knows. Until someone can get some consistent pressure this unit will struggle.

Dang man calling somebody a bust after a few missed tackles in a 2 game span seems pretty harsh. I think even Jarvis got more of a grace period than that. Lol.

I live in KC and nothing would please me more than crushing them. That said, I don't think it's going to happen. This will be a very close game that comes down to the 4th quarter. The Chiefs D is very stout, they will press us and get pressure with their front four. We will need a much better offensive game plan than last week. I read earlier today that we might see some formations with Bell and Williams in at the same time. I like the sound of that.

Cockrell did cover AJ Green one on one and held him in check, he had some help but still he did a good job.
