How about that viking defense, cant wait to see them play the eagles, they had 8 sacks and 3 picks against cam newton and they shut Aaron rodgers down the week before, they play the giants this monday night, if you love defense just watch these guys mangle an offense, they play the eagles Oct 23, should be a rookie QB feast......

my guess is that butler has something up his sleeve, and if he doesn't then we are screwed.

Actually I think it was the Bengals who exposed the fact that we can't stop the screen. The Bengals did it a couple times with success. I recall one or twice that they could have had a huge gain on screens but missed the pass once or twice and a very good / lucky solo tackle prevented a TD. The Eagles had to see this on film and the difference being they actually executed them perfectly, were the BenGals didn't take advantage when they should have. This presents a very big problem for our defense IMO because I'm not sure how we stop it using the defensive plays we've been using. Expect some big adjustments. If we don't make the adjustments we are toast.

We all knew our defense was suspect. It's the offense that needs to get going. You can't make a living on deep balls and be consistently successful. Hopefully Bell is that difference maker. I also think we need to settle on a #2 WR. None of them are getting the reps needed to be consistent. Not sure who , if anyone, is earning the job but someone has to. If the players don't take it, the coaches need to give it to someone.

The way to defend screens is balancing playing disciplined with sniffing out the play early. Not a surprise it works against a young secondary. It won't work all year.

he simplified the defense to allow newcomers to grasp it, problem is our defense lacks the basic fundamentals(angles, wrapping up your guy etc)

The score was an aberration. Getting outcoached was not. Losing to a team we should beat was not. Those are Tomlin trademarks.

The other krypnonite is that they are so good at planning against your tendencies that they become vulnerable if you change things up. This is how Rex Ryan beat them in the AFC playoffs in 2010 (I think I have the year correct this time). The Jets had been destroyed by the Ptas just a few weeks earlier, but then Ryan changed his D and did things Brady had never seen before, and he was utterly confused.

Looking forward to it, should be a good game. I think the Eagles will win, no Peterson, they'll be 1 dimensional, much like we were. Bradford will be in for a rougher day, IMO.

I bet many fans were saying the same thing about Ben during his rookie campaign. Wait until he plays so and so, just kept winning.

Like Ben, Wentz doesn't have to put the team on his shoulders, he's actually surrounded by a good cast. And Shwartz is a much better DC then HC.

New England had such a promising season.
Now that the Bills just gave the recipe to BEAT the Patriots, I guess they are going to end up at 3-13.

And again we see....having the recipe and actually being able to execute it are really far apart.

I don't think they even tried ..How many double screens did they try ? How many slip screens off of PA ?How many WR tunnel screens ? I missed the 1st half I was stuck at work so didn't see, but in the 2nd. half all the play calls from KC looked very vanilla to me ...

I did notice the Steelers didn't give those huge cushions this made me very happy...

No they really didn't try. Again, teams can KNOW what the Eagles did, but they don't always do it. Coaches out-think themselves sometimes. Other times the teams just don't have the players to actually make the approach work.

How do you beat the Steelers defense...easy!!! IF the Steelers refuse to blitz and they CONTINUE to play their corners 8-12 yards off the line of scrimmage and if they REFUSE to hit the TE coming off the line, then it's like taking candy from a baby! I'm so sick of watching this team play not to win defense instead of playing aggressive to win defense. Last year against the Patriots, opening game, what was basically talked about so much leading up to that game? Better have a guy or two check Gronk at the line and don't let him run free. What did we do, let Gronk do whatever the hell he wanted to do and he got us for two scores...game over. Now at least last night against the Chiefs I was pleasantly surprised to see the Steelers disguise the schemes and blitzes and go after Smith...it worked. They also tackled so much better which is always key! Far too may times I see the opponent in a third and 3 or 4 and our corners are lined up 8+ yards off the line of scrimmage and all the QB has to do is take the snap and fire directly out to that receiver, boom easy first down! That's how you beat the Steelers!!! It's not rocket science!!!

The Steelers beat themselves It really had nothing to do with how good the Eagles are. I mean they could not tackle ****. Could not make a stop. Now look at the team that was on the field for the Chiefs. Pretty sure the West Allegheny High School was on the field when they got handed their asses.

The question that needs to be answered by the Steeler defensive coaches is do you know
how to defend the dink and dunk. It will becoming in a few weeks. Lets see if we know how to defend it.
    Will Gronk go for 200?

I'm thinking our best cover on Gronk is Shazier. So, it depends on if he is healthy. A big IF.

Well in fairness to KC they were down so much in the second half they probably felt like they had to throw the ball more downfield than try to rely on screens and long drives to catch back up. They were already getting their @$$ handed to them at that point... the game plan had changed by then because of in game events.

I remember them trying some in the first half tho. One went for like 10-15 yards. Jarvis' interception came on a screen or some type of RB dump off pass when Heyward tipped the ball.
