Tailgating help for Sunday

Hey everyone,

A group of us from Toronto will be coming down to watch the Steelers play the Chiefs on Sunday night and we are pumped! Can someone help me out with the tailgating parking situation?

We were hoping to tailgate in Gold Lot 1 or 2 and are considering buying a pre-sold pass online but they are crazy expensive! Do these lots accommodate cash parking on the day of the game?

ALso, for a SNF game with 8:30 kickoff, what time will they start letting people tailgate?

Restaurants that I've been to that I like.
Peppi's in the Strip District (Get the Rothelisberger)
Primanti Bros. In the Strip District (Get the Pittsburgher)
Deluca's for breakfast (get there early, long line)
Pamela's for breakfast
Burgh's Pizza and wings ( Really good pizza and wings)
Bettis' 36 Grille (I actually met Jerome Bettis there in 2010)
Fatheads (Southside)
Urban Tap Southside)
Fioris Pizza (love this place)
Genoa Pizza ( I believe it's in market square area)

Shopping
The strip District is the best place in my opinion.
The Steelers Pro Shop (official store of the Steelers)
Hometown Sports at Station square has alot to offer.
Walmart has some stuff as well as some of the other department stores.

Things to do
The Inclines ( Duquesne Incline is my favorite) View of the city from the top at Mt. Washington is amazing.
Heinz History Museum
Ride the Ducks at Station Square. ( Sounds corny, but it's a nice little tour of Pittsburgh and it's reasonable)
Check out Market Square area

Gameday / Tailgating
Parking lots open 5 hours before game time.
You can find plenty of tailgates that you can buy into. Normally $20 per person all you can eat and drink.
Steel City Mafia does a tailgate for all home games Gold lot#4 $25 per person and all proceeds go to charity.
Stage AE has the official tailgate of the Steelers. Free to get in. Opens 3 hours prior to kickoff. Live broadcast of the pregame show. Plenty of food and drink options. live music and games for the kids. Sometimes they have players there signing autographs.
Lots of things to do around the outside of the stadium. Lot of free stuff.
No matter where you're sitting in the stadium be sure to check out the Great Hall. It'll give you goosebumps. The'll have live music there too.
Stadium opens 2 hours prior to kickoff. Fun to go in and watch them warm up.

Be sure to sign up for Steelers Nation Unite and build your yards up. You may get selected to participate in onfield activities. Worked for me. Got onfield access for the 49ers game last season.

Gold lot 1,1A and 2 are pre-sold entry only. It used to be they would sell about 30 on game day on first come basis, but not anymore
