J Gilbert, 2016's Boykin?

Why isn't this guy having more reps?
I wonder if our Coaching staff sees him as a CB much worse than what we saw today. If so, someone has questions to answer at the FO.

 

my crystal ball says he gets playing time next week and makes a few bad plays and people will say that is why he didn't get in the Eagles game.

 

I don't think it's anything close to the Boykin situation. From all accounts the Steelers really like Gilbert.
I don't think we've seen the level of bad CB play this year that we saw last season.
I really think a lot of what people are getting frustrated about has more to do with scheme as opposed to level of play.
Just my thoughts.

Losing Golden hurt so much. He had been playing on fire so far this season

 

They see a guy they liked two years ago and one they can build upon but don't want to mess with team chemistry or risk creating a confidence problem with him right now. Tomlin will play the guys who earned spots in camp and keep saying he will work Gilbert in.

 

This. Teams just do not hand over jobs over one game. Gilbert will have to earn his time by putting it in.

 

PWP uses a Magic 8 Ball. There's a difference. LOL!

 

I'm not sure I agree with it totally but it is what Tomlin does. Much like with Burns I would perhaps put him in and tell him to do everything necessary to shut player X(insert actual player name) down no matter what, don't worry about zone responsibility or run support just shut them down.

 

And this takes us to the Ike Taylor / Cortez Allen scenarios. They both were benched after one game (yes, I know both had history and their performance on those particular games was FAR worse than what we saw today).
