The Steelers defense should scare the rest of the AFC

If Davis, Burns and Dupree add to this Defense, and we avoid serious injury, we could be very good. I'd start with trying to get off the field on 3rd downs more.

Agreed (although I think Cincy was only 4/16 on 3rd down efficiency last week). What has me a bit more concerned is what we do when we get a 2-score lead -- although believe me, I very much LIKE having a 2-score lead. I was at the game Sunday, and although it didn't look like a standard prevent, the zone became SO bendybutnotbreaky that it only took Cincy a couple minutes to march down the field on 9 yardish buttonhooks to make it a one-score game. It was happening again until the 'fumble.' I like what New England did yesterday up big when Houston had to go for a 4th and 4 late....undercut the 5 yard route as the odds are the team will be gunning to get just enough for the first down. I'd like to stay aggressive up 2 (or 1) scores, but.....results are results and the W's are welcome!

If we're going to rate our defense after only 2 games, let's make note that our passing defense is ranked 30th out of 32. And that includes a game in the rain. I bet that scares the other teams. It certainly makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Actually, I am all warm and fuzzy. It's 81 degrees and I'm kind of hairy.

it doesn't change the fact that they were in the right spots in coverage. they just didn't make the catches.

Their goal is to only give up 17 points a game per Keith Butler, that's what they done through the first 2 games. Once some of the young guys get more experience the pass defense will improve, also their redzone defense is good.

Yeah but if they cant score they can run all over the field. Our red zone defense presently is ominous

Context though, the opposing teams were down in both games and so they both did more passing in the fourth quarter which makes our passing D look worse comparatively. Giving up 16 points per game, still room for improvement, but a pretty good start

No, we're not going to scare anyone after giving up 34 points, and not being able to sack or force a turnover by a rookie...

I'm guessing our pass defense may drop out of the number 30 spot.

We may end up ranked 33rd in the league because some season ticket holder will end up with more picks than our D. Ironically, from the bleachers he will be playing tighter coverage than our DBs.

As I been saying our Defense sucks ...We don't have a single #1 or #2 CB on the Team ....We have the wrong types of guys at Safety, they take poor angles, they can't tackle, they have hardly any Football IQ.. Our front guys can't mount any type of pressure..

I don't know, they scare me sometimes. But I think things will straighten out somewhat this week at home against KC.

Well it's scaring me for sure. Absolutely zero pressure on the QB in three whole games.

The defense gets a bad rap and they deserve it. But what about the offense? This game should have been a classic shootout. The offense was supposed to carry the team this year and all they could score was 3 points vs. Eagles.

It was so bad that on reflection it looks like a classic let down game to me. That field was bad last week and it made for an attritional war of a game, and it was a much 'bigger' game than this one. I think the team was flat, and we'll see a different Steelers on Sunday Night Football.

I would not overreact too much to this game, if they lay another egg against KC then that's different and it's time for concern.
