I find it funny how people complain about his temper tantrums. Bill Cowher had run-ins with players and no one around here cared.

I think the major difference is when Bill would go off you never saw the player coming back at him. They'd just stand there with that deer in the headlights look while Cowher unloaded on them :lolol:

Both comments are right! It was no big deal, and in fact we expected it. Cowher's players took it without any return fire. Maybe it was the coach or maybe it was at a time when players showed more deference to their coaches.

i remember a few times a player would argue back, then the Pitts crowd would start to boo the player lol might have been Kordell

Possibly my favorite soundbite in NFL history:

Bill Cowher: "Hey James! They got you on holding!"
    James Harrison: "Sh** happens."
    Bill Cowher: [silence]

Bill Cowher (later, to Tommy Maddox): "I told him they got him on holding... he said, 'Sh** happens'... what am I supposed to say to that??"

If it's worth saying, when this team brought in a new QB we headed straight into for a superbowl. That was change.

When this team brought in a new head coach, we went straight into a 2nd superbowl.

This team is now bringing in a new offensive coach, and I have no reason to believe that with our talent, our history, and this new change, that we're heading straight
in for Ben's 3rd ring and Todd's ring as first year OC of the steelers.

    :clapping:

Let's see what he can do before we anoint him the savior of our offense.I like the fact he's got Pittsburgh roots and he's known to be harsh at times,But the offense still has to produce on the field.I'll give him a 1st yr. pass to just see what he brings and where the offense is going.I'm excited at the potential success he might bring? We will see. :yeehaw:

Well that's just it, there's a way to motivate, get in peoples face and get the most out of them without being a dick about it. Manboy hasn't figured that out yet. Haley has had meltdowns on the sidelines and in the locker room with both players and coaches. When have you ever heard about players hating Cowher? Comparing Haley to Cowher is a bad analogy. You would have to compare him to Parcells to be more accurate.

i think the term 'hater' gets used WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too liberally around here.

just because somebody isn't a thousand-percent sold on someone or provides objective analysis for the sake of debate, it doesn't make them a 'hater.'

i would guess most of the 'ben haters' love ben. i would guess most of the 'arians supporters' are pretty impartial to the situation and just trust the organization will do the right thing (like they usually do). i don't know if there are any 'haley haters.' this is a message board where, heaven forbid, differing viewpoints are shared.

everyone here wants the same thing. i attended a steelers' fantasy camp in latrobe a few years back and tomlin was the guest speaker and he was laughing at the guys in the camp saying we were all 'sick'. like him, we all cared waaaaaaaay too much about this game. he shared the sickness and couldn't figure out if it was a good or bad thing but he referenced the sickness as 'an incomprehensible love of the pittsburgh steelers.'
