johnson too when he gets more familiar with the defense. i think we are pretty stacked at this spot. i will say this position is evolving though and instead of looking at just LB'er types we could be seeing larger strong safety type players evolving as ILB. guys with speed and tackling ability but also better DB type ball skills too.

What we have is a bunch of backups that people fell in love with in the preseason. Chickillo, Fort, Dirty Red....all might turn into something, or all might be out of the league in 2 years.

You don't pass on drafting the next Patrick Willis, or Luke K because you got Dirty Red stashed on the bench.

    I liked the list.

fort has shown good coverage ability and is probably as close to a shazier type of lb that we have in coverage ability. he does that quite well if you focus on him. he's always around the ball when he's in. no you don't pass on willis and luke k types but you also don't know that when drafting. darron lee has looked shazier like too and we passed. i liked him last year. red has that it factor as a ball player and has a little of the luke k look to him as far as insticts it seems. you don't throw that away either. i actually like our lb group right now and it seems like these guys are capable of becoming much more than backups that people fell in love with in preseason. remember timmons took a few years to develop too and so did harrison. we seem to have a good base to start with these guys. lets just say the arrow is pointing in the right direction.

I don't argue that a few have an arrow pointing up.....potential. But every year we have those guys....and very very rarely do they turn into much. Don't think I don't like them...that is not what I am saying at all. I love quality depth. But today...that's all they are...depth. Dirty Red was always around the ball as a backup and gets praised. Jarvis has been balling the first two weeks always around the ball and gets destroyed. More has always been expected of the starters.
