If we are unable to keep Wallace, and the Patriots sign him, how many picks would you demand? And who would you take in the draft?

I realize this is a pipe dream, but what the heck, let's have a discussion about this.

If the Patriots give us their 31st pick in the draft, who would you take it for Wallace?

Can you imagine if we took Cordy Glenn and Dontari Poe or Hightower in the 1st round?

    I can dream right?

This is not going to happen. People need to relax. We will give him the highest tender which is a 1st and a 3rd rounder.

Wallace is good, but he has his flaws.

Sorry the 1st and 3rd no longer applies under the new CBA. Still, I don't see Wallace leaving.

not anymore SBD. i believe with the new CBA, it's only a 1st. no more 1 and 3. we have the right to match it. it does make it easier for us to lose a guy, without that 3rd rounder. if it happened, i'm not so sure i don't try to trade our 1 and move up and get decastro. i'm not sure how many 1st rounders we can handle picking with our cap numbers so high. we would have to do some pencil sharpening.

As good as Wallace is, I think with Brown, Sanders, and a low level free agent pickup (or even Cotchery re-signing), we'd be in good shape.

I agree with Mac... we would have to use our 1st rounders, combine them and make some kind of move. I am a fan of Wallace, however, if he seeks a bigger payday I'm not opposed to letting him go and make a move. I say that like I own the team.

I don't understand why some of you guys are so receptive to letting Wallace go? When you've got a great young player with his kind of talent you hold on to him for as long as you can which I hope is what the Steelers do with Wallace. Funny how things have changed with our fan base over the years. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago when many were always bitching and moaning about the Steelers not wanting to pay good players to stick around and once the Steelers started doing more of that now it's "Let the good players walk or deal them away" for a draft pick that may or may not turn out to be a better player than the guy you lost

I agree, considering how young Wallace is, it would seem kind of crazy to let him go. I guess he had a case of some dropsies later in the year, but do we really think he went from being the bomb to must a middling receiver at the end of the season? Of course, it is going to be such a challenging off season cap-wise I guess there is a chance that the Steelers could have some unintended losses.

I agree, apparently nobody remembers how hard it is to find a young WR to be able to catch the ball. Anyone remember Nate Washington, Limas Sweed? Seemed like they dropped more than they caught. I like wallace and would like to see how he operates with a new OC. I'm not sure we have to break the bank, but, we really don't have a replacement for him on the roster.

I would hate to see Mike Wallace go as well. If Todd Haley is REALLY gonna open up a creative playbook Wallace AT THE VERY LEAST will surely make a good decoy. I think Wallace FORCES other teams to commit to him just enough to free up other guys. Without Wallace would AB put up the same numbers? Also, if Haley is really a guy that like to mold his players in to shape then couldn't he develop Wallace in to more than just a "one trick pony"?

I like the idea of resigning Cotchery and actually using him as the possession receiver he is. We can live without Wallace. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy. But we have other options. And if there could be an oppprtunity to get another pick we could trade up to get Decastro, that would be awesome.

this would be a very hard pill to swallow, but the above situation is what I'd like. I think we need to keep Cotchery. I'd like to keep the whole receiving corp. and I don't agree with any of the knocks on Wallace.

BUT, we have cap trouble, he will command a lot and we really need the draft spot. Plus, if there seems to be one position we know how to pick and are batting a thousand it's WR. (I even still had faith in Sweed shakin off jitters)

Still young and trying to adjust to the constant double team he got in the 2nd half of the season. I think he'll be fine.

Is this stemming from some sort of actual press release or statement from Wallace. I haven't seen anything from Wallace other than referencing wanting to be a Pittsburgh Steeler.

The Steelers know what they are doing, they have never (Faneca,Woodson) well
let a player loose that has upside and can play. Actually Manny Sanders and Antonio Brown are better than 60 minutes.

There is only so much $$$ to go around.

Hypothetically if New England were to offer him a contract that is more than Pittsburgh is willing to pay, or a contract that if Pittsburgh would have to match and therefore would be disruptive to the signing of other key components of the team, then they may have no choice.

I think most people love Wallace and want to keep him, but not at all costs.

And this point its only hypothetical, but there is reasonable logic behind such a scenario coming to fruition.

Wallace in New England would be a killer. The #1 problem with the Pats offense right now is that they lack a legit deep threat. Teams are able to play man under like we and the Giants did, and slow them down because there's no fear of the deep ball. Wallace would change that just by his very presence. He would open up their underneath lanes the way Moss did in 2007. Also, while Brady may not have the best arm in the league, he is very accurate on deep balls.

New England will get Brandon Lloyd if they want him. He has publicly stated that he will follow McDaniel wherever he goes, but he's no deep threat.

Man Wallace on the Cheats that would be the worst. I would be sick if he left. Yeah had a bad second half of the season, seemed to do more talking than catching. But he can only get better from here. Plus I think we'd see Antonio Brown having a lot more trouble getting the ball if wallace is gone. Losing wallace would be a huge detriment to the offense

He wasn't as good the second half because Ben kept on missing him deep. Also defenses concentrating on him allowed Abrown to emerge
