    Coach T,

I'd like to personally apologize to you for all of my compatriots on this message board to see. I really didn't think you'd do it. I thought you may feel a little threatened by a strong personality like Todd Haley running the offense. I realize that Rooney was probably an advocate of Haley given the long-term family connection, but the fact is that he would not have hired Haley if you were adamantly against it. You could have found many reasons to pass on Haley, I'm sure, but I'd like to commend you for having the foresight to hire somebody that will bring a little edginess back to the offense. An OC that will cause them to focus maybe just a little more and will bring an identity back to the Steelers offense. I'm sure it won't be the kind of smashmouth football we've been used to in the past, but Haley will mix in the run nicely with the pass. I believe he will compel Ben to elevate his game to the next level by being better prepared for his opponent by watching more film and understanding the defenses tendencies better than he has in the past. Ben has always relied on sheer physicality and it's served him well, but he's no spring chicken. Haley will be the best thing to happen in Ben's career to this point, and I'd like to again thank you for having the wisdom to recognize that. You made the right call, Coach. You are secure in your coaching skin and I think you proved that by giving Haley an opportunity to interview with you and by doing your due diligence before you made the call to hire him. Sorry for ever doubting you, Coach. You're the best!

    Sincerely,

    JackAttack 5958

Don`t eat crow... eat Ravens... they taste better...
    :)
I don`t know enough about Haley, to be overly enthusiastic, that he is now our OC...
I know almost anyone would be better than what we had...
    Go Haley!

The Chiefs had six 200 yard+ rushing games in 2010 that is a stat that speaks to me.

They had one 1st round draft pick at LT in Branden Albert and he was the 15th pick overall in the 2008 draft. They had no pro bowlers or all pros that year in fact no one on that Oline stands out as more than a journeymen player much like the Texans of that year who had a awesome OL made up of guys that were nothing special but bought into a system that utilized their talents and strengths.

I wanted Albert so bad that year and thought they should have gotten him.

Casey Wiegmann at Center was a Pro Bowler while at Denver and has been an "All Madden" team member for about 9 years in a row. In his first go-round with KC a few years back Larry Johnson led the league in rushing. While at Denver Casey started and the team led the league in offense. Just saying...

Your means of delivering this thoughtful sincere apology are questionable at best.

Anybody think that Coach T comes on here before he trots on down to the office or lurks just after dinner time to see what everyone has to say about how he should run his team? If that's the case then he would have gotten the hint long ago and wouldn't have hesitated in the least bIt to can BA.

A very well thought out sincere apology indeed but you'd have a better chance of him seeing it if you hung it on a note at Gate A of Heinz Field.

How do you know it was MT hiring him. Maybe Art II said "Mike, hire him or else"

they sure didn't last year. they ran it worse then we did. he had a FB too. they also play in a division that is not near as tough as the afc north. we better fix the line first before we expect him to make alot of difference.

Correct. Tomlin had absolutely nothing to do with this hire. Rooney told him what to do. Otherwise, Haley wouldn't have left Pittsburgh after the meet and greet he had with Tomlin w/out an offer. That's how it works. Ronney gave them the courtsey to have a talk, then he had his sit down with Ben, told them both what was going to be done and did it. It is clear this is what happened.

Pure conjecture passed off as gospel. Please don't dress up opinion as fact. We get enough of that from our elected officials.

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it's probably a duck.

There were reports of Tomlin calling around to get the scoop on Haleys past, probably a safe bet that he did the hiring. I might be willing to believe that Rooney told Tomlin not to promote Fichtner but that's about it. I think it's safe to say at this point that Rooney wanted someone who will push Ben.

maybe they think fichtner can now make bens game evolve with BA gone and wants to take away the thing holding that back. BA. if he was promoted to OC he wouldn't have that one on one time to spend with bens game like he would as his QB coach only. i still think fichtner is a good coach. he seems to be able to help players get better. maybe getting ben out of the BA rut will now allow randy to elevate ben as a qb, in some decision making.

Very possible. And if Fichtner doesn't have the personality to enforce it he can pass it on to Haley who certainly will.

Doesn't anyone think it's possible they made the hire together?

If they made the hire together, it becomes impossible to throw disproportionate blame on one of them, though.
