I'm not very impressed by the results but really couldn't watch a game either so clue me in.

Is this team better than their crappy preseason represents?

If the first team suffers injuries we are done.

Other teams know this so they will be going after Ben at any cost.

Tomlin doesn't put any stock in it so they don't really do anything but vanilla blitz and chalkboard offensive plays. They worry about technique and treat it like a scrimmage. Of course NE usually has pretty good success in the preseason and regular season so who knows?

Exactly. Preseason is extended practice for the Steelers.

Case in point: fourth quarter last night, a win not completely out of the question; Steelers do nothing but run the ball up the middle.

If it makes you feel better, @86WardsWay , the one time the starting offense took the field, they looked lights out.

As long as Ben, Brown, and Bell/Williams stay healthy ...we have a chance week in and week out. The whole defense has to stay healthy...they're too young not to...lol
I know the latter would be a miracle, but that's why we pray!

Tomlin treats pre season as scrimmage. 31 other coaches treat pre season as tune-up.

    But he knows best...

Being that we are have 13 losses in the last 16 preseason games. I don't think they worry too much about the out come.

When all the starters did play against the Saints they looked awesome. So take it as a plus.

They don't hand you a trophy for winning the pre-season.

Before game 4 was even played last night, there was 84 season ending injuries during this pre season and there were more on IR after this last game, so players who made it through this pre season without getting injured have to feel pretty lucky. Commissioner goodydell has said they can go to 2 pre season games but there is a caveat that 2 regular season games be added to the schedule, but players are saying their bodies are already beat up after 16 games and coaches say they need these pre season games to evaluate players to build their roster, so, on it goes, nothing will change untill the next bargaining agreement one way or another until the new CBA in 2020 and adding two more games to the regular season seems very highly unlikely to ever happen.........

Not a smokescreen.... Just an evaluation of what you've got. We have a veteran offense with many entrenched starters. Those guys barely played and instead we played the young guys and the back ups the most. Hence why the Offense struggled most of the preseason. We have a young defense, so some guys that will start or receive significant playing time got quite a few snaps....

Cowher would have been 4-0 during the preseason. Opposing teams offenses would have gained at least -125 yards. Cowher's teams would have scored at least 35 points on offense per game. Defense would have recorded 5 INTs per game and 10 sacks minimum.

    Who the hell is Knoll?

Chuck Noll was once a decent coach for the Steelers.

There's only one man who can make Vin Diesel and Chuck Norris tremble in fear... and that man is Bill Cowher.

Its hard to assess this preseason... The starters rarely played, more so than past years. Either Tomlin sat them or they were injured.

It seems like our backups were getting overwhelmed, especially on D. So I am getting the feeling our starters might be good, but some of our depth is lacking. Hope we stay healthy this year.

I think Tomlin is treating the preseason right. Get our starters some snaps and get them out and let the kids trying to make the team or improve their ranking on the depth charts play. We need to stay healthy and lately we have had a problem doing that and playing Ben in the preseason always scares me. That said we seem to start the regular season strong so lets hope our guys got enough time in to get the rust off.

Tomlin only won the Super Bowl with Cowher's preseason.
