Now we need a "Breaking Down Landry's GOOD Night" thread. LOL! He really did have a solid night though.

He had a good night against a mediocre defense. At least that's how I feel about it.

I heard the reason Keenan Lewis wanted out of NO is because he saw the schedule and realized Landry was coming. I'm not sure if it's true or not but that's what I heard. I also heard he asked Landry if he could come back to Pittsburgh but Landry lightly slapped him with the back of his hand and called him a noob and told him to get lost. The second part is actually true because I heard it from Bob Labriola.

I know their roles but Coates will have a bigger impact (hopefully) if he duplicate what Bryant gave us. And if he does that, no way they will sit Wheaton to get Eli on the field. Don't forget, this kid is essentially a rookie, has a lot to learn. They will want a couple vets out there, AB and Wheaton.

Right here. Landry had a good game. Hope he keeps it up, but I have to see more. Against a better defense and an important game like against Cincy in the playoffs. I give his due for now, but you do the same when he stinks up the joint.

Rodgers will more than likely get a decent number of snaps, but I don't foresee him getting a Start on game day (at least not early on) over Wheaton or Coats.
Don't we typically just have two starters at WR on Game day?

I think Jones will be in this league 10 years, only starting because of injury......and no I am still not a fan of his. His skill set is fine....I am sure he knows the playbook. But he doesnt appear to go through his reads...he stares down his receivers, and makes slow decisions. Sure he can hit a wide open WR. But he waits for them to be open. He does not see them or maybe trust them to be open.

Life long backup QB...and good for him...there are worse jobs to have. Its going to make him a lot of money.

If you're gonna rip him when he's bad, you gotta give him credit when he was good. He was nearly perfect yesterday. Sure, he wasn't playing the NFL's best D, but he's a back up... Playing with back up offensive pieces against a back up D. He looked really good. It was a bounce back game for him, and he needed it after the Eagles game

Where are all the Jesse James and any other Steelers TE besides Heath Miller haters? :confused1:

I don't even really think of the James detractors as "haters" anyway. I mean he has the unenviable task of directly following a player who has generated more emotional attachment among the fanbase in recent years than about anybody else. I mean I think you will be seeing Heath jerseys at games for as long as you will be seeing Lambert and Mean Joe jerseys at games. Also if people are gonna be hating on a Steelers TE they might wanna direct it at Green if he signed on knowing he wasn't really able to play anyway. Really James is getting his feet put to the fire quicker than he probably would have if things had gone the way the FO would have liked for them to.

I think James starts the year as TE1 and keeps it the rest of the year. That's my bold prediction.

If Green gets healthy I believe it's his job to lose.

I would have agreed with that right after we signed him and we anticipated him having a full camp to practice. Right now he is way behind and every day James keeps moving forward. Green will certainly get opportunities if and when he is healthy. Right now that seems like a big if and when.

Bruener was one of the best blocking TEs the Steelers ever had. He was OT-lite, had good hands too... but never had a blue-chip QB like Ben.

I remember Bruener's rookie season, he was telling me he needed to get bigger and stronger because he was a 250 pound pipsqueak. And there I am, a towering 5-8. Kinda put a dent in my ego.

I am not a Jesse James hater, I believe he is a very servicable back up TE.

Yeah, I think he's a solid #2 all around TE right now, and has the potential to become a good long-term starter. I'm just not sure he's ready to be that quality starter in 2016, especially as a blocker. Grow up fast Jessie...

On the 4 real ..Do you guys think he is better than Joe Webb from the Panthers ? Not roster values ,,just straight up QB skills ?

Different skill set. Webb is athletic and makes throws on the run, uses his legs and plays more like a running QB than a pocket passer. Jones looks like he still is uncomfortable taking snaps under center and has looked his best in my opinion when he is in shotgun and a spread formation where he can use motion to help decipher coverages and defenses. Webb is not bad for a third string QB playing against guys that were cut today but be honest PWP there was a reason Minnesota let him go and why he made the Carolina squad as a WR and not as a fulltime QB.

fair enough and is kind of how I see it...I would like to see Webb with better skill players..I guess what I am saying is it seems Webb has got much better as a QB ..No doubt he has roster value as a WR/QB/ST .. I think he is the only 1 of those guys playing right now in the league?
