I am less down on Jones today after having a day to think about it. But we really need to find someone we can groom. Jones is an ok backup but I want someone to push him in camp. I am interested to see if a vet QB gets cut and if we have any interest in them.

TJ Yates might be worth a look as a 3rd QB has some playoff experience also, Gradkowski can't be counted on anymore he's a freaking china doll.

The kind of back up I'd ideally want was playing on Thursday - Chase Daniel.

However, Chase Daniel brings with him a 5m cap hit.

    Landry is 785k.

Pay Brown, Bell, Timmons, etc., or pay for someone to hold a clipboard...?

The problem is he is in his 4th year and making mistakes that should have been cleaned up 2 years ago, He tries to fit balls into narrow windows because he has seen Ben do it many times, problem is he is no Ben, heres an article that pretty much tells it like it is for landry jones:

He has zero ability to look off defenders...

    That really is problem 1-4

Isn't that what they are supposed to do? It really wasn't a stretch for the Bills to win that game.

You guys are funny with making excuses for why the Steelers got in. The 10 games they won, that doesn't count for anything, huh.

They went 2-2 without Ben. What more do you want? 3-1 or 4-0 is asking a lot of your backups.

When the Steelers signed him it was a head scratcher. I've been scratching my head so much I get migraines. Besides a game last year where he did well, I don't recall any othet time he has done ANYTHING worth discussing...and that includes the preseason games. We signed another QB Bryn Renner because Dustin Vaughan suffered a fractured bone on his throwing hand. Big Ben has to stay healthy for us to get another ring. No Micheal Vick, let's not get desperate. We need to get Tajh Boyd back. <rant>done </rant>

Has anyone noticed through out the years that Landry Jones yells at players. When something doesn't go right he's screaming..or do I hate him that much that I'm imagining it

Steelers fans were spoiled with Batch and Leftwich at backup QB for many years. It wasn't gonna last forever.

Edit: also Batch was the starting QB for the Lions for a few years before joining the Steelers. Leftwich was drafted by Jax to be their franchise QB and started for several years reaching the playoffs once, if I recall correctly. Landry Jones was drafted in the 4th round by the Steelers to be a backup QB.

    Agreed.

We have to face it, Jones will be the no 2 QB for 2016. We also have to recognize that he was playing with guy's that aren't major talents and that not all 4 ints were directly his fault.

I'm not defending the guy because he hasn't really done anything so far ( except a couple of good passes in a playoff game....that he followed up an almost game ending int in the next one ) to make me sing his praises at all.

But he's going to be no 2 and I seriously doubt they bring anyone else in.

Jones needs to play every snap of the next two preseason games. On opening day, he will be our number 2 even if we pick up someone else's cast off. He needs all of the work he can get.

Don't say R.I.P. Landry. Do you want zombie Jones because that's how you get zombie Jones.

We took Jerald Hawkins 10 picks ahead of Dak Prescott.

Need everyone remember the state Ben was in vs. Cincy when he went back in the game? You don't inject someone with horse tranquilizer unless Landry is that bad.

I have no idea what the coaching staff sees in him after how many years?
