I was watching ESPN sportscenter live at Steelers camp, and Sal Paloantonio said he heard from the Steelers they are confident and expect Bell to play week 1.

Was at Friday night practice, Le'vean seemed to me that he put back on weight that he took off last year.

Which is good, he was too light last year. I would like to see him at 225-230.

Well, even John Clayton noted there was a "fighting chance" he would win his appeal. That's pretty surprising.

As I've said before, I think this is huge because 1) I don't think he can lay off the stuff and 2) His next suspension would be a full year suspension (I think) but, if he wins this appeal, then I think his next suspension would only be four games.

This has to help the Steelers in his extension negotiations as well. There is valid reason for skepticism in his ability to stay on the field.

I suspect at this point, any new contract talks will start after the season is over. Talks won't start, if at all, until mid August. Not much time to get a contract done before the season starts. And especially now with the additional baggage. Then they don't typically negotiate during the season.

His agent is probably as pissed as everyone else.

I think he might have heard that from the players, but I dont think Tomlin would go on the record with that statement, or Dan Rooney would have said that before bells even had his hearing, it's probably better than even money that Bell will be suspended for 4 games in my opinion....

It might be reaching and in no way is it Art or Tomlin going on record but sounds to me like they are saying it or at least speculating on it to media outlets now.

Yeah definitely have to take anything at this point with a grain of salt but in this case I look at the source and I lend more credibility to a story on ESPN than say on Bleacher Report. Not that ESPN hasn't been wrong frequently just their reputation is a bit better than fan sites and so I trust them ever so slightly

I want LB ballin' game 1 just like everyone else...but I'm NOT holding my breath.

The NFL rules with an iron fist. DamnYouRoger hates the Steelers. Even golden boy Tom Brady lost in the end. I would be absolutely shocked if Juice gets a get outta jail free card.

Well if Brady can screw around with the NFL for a year before actually serving his suspension then Bell should have that same right.

No chance imo. He's out all 4. Sorry, not very hopeful on this one. It's not the NFL vs the Steelers, its the NFL vs drugs. No conspiracy here. Goodell and the NFL have their views on the subject and they lean towards the punishment side.

The only saving grace is if he turned in his new number and the test guy was using his old number. I've read there have been case where that worked we just didn't hear about them. Also I wonder if the NFLPA is saying vacate this and we don't sue due to this being leaked out.

Bingo on the bolded. Roger wants to create the "squeaky clean" image for the league considering the amount of backlash he has received in recent years; the amount of suspensions no less (last year was 63 and we are already at 23 with ZERO preseason games played).

Getting back on topic... he is not winning his appeal. Only he has himself to blame for this. If he does win somehow... expect others suspended to fight for the same outcome if they have not already.
