Sigh.........wow. To my knowledge, no one held a gun to his head and made him play in the NFL and the moron knew when he got there that he couldn't smoke pot. I have no sympathy for people who make stupid choices and the operative word there is "choices". He chose to do what he did knowing that it was against the rules. It burns me up that we live in this ridiculous, bleeding heart, society now where no one is ever to blame for their behavior and there's no accountability anymore. People live in this dumb theoretical world where all of their "problems" are because of "someone else". Well Bell's problems are self induced and the sooner he realizes that the sooner he will become a real man. There is a difference between ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance is doing something and not really realizing it's wrong. Stupidity is doing something in spite of the fact that you know you will face consequences for it. Bell is the latter in spades. When your employer has a policy that you don't like they are not violating your "rights" by having it. You know why? Because they're not forcing you to work there. I love to wear Ducktales and Ninja Turtles shirts but when I get in a UPS truck I have to wear a goofy looking brown uniform IF I WANT TO WORK AT UPS. They are not telling me that I can't wear the shirts I like. They are just telling me that when I work for them and represent them to the public then I will have to be subordinate to them or not work there. The NFL is not telling Bell that he can't smoke the stupid bullcrap drug that he likes. They are telling him he can't smoke it if he wants to work for them. I support them totally in that decision.

Yeah that's the case for any drug violation with the league. By the time it gets to the public they've already failed at least one test to begin with.

I don't even feel sorry for Bell if he IS being sorta red flagged by the league. The reason I don't is because he put himself in that position to start with. I mean this is the same idiot that drove through town with smoke barreling out of his Camaro and then was stupid enough to say that he didn't know that was against the law. I just can't find a single angle from which I can feel sympathy for him. I'm that way by nature though. I have a hard time feeling sympathy for drug addicts, alcoholics, porn addicts, or any other kind of addicts because I just believe that they put themselves in the situations they wind up in and they know they are engaging in risky behavior from the get go. I just don't have a lot of respect for people who sow and sow and sow and then whine when it comes time to reap their harvest. Bell can shut his stupid hole as far as I'm concerned. Man I just get madder the more I think about it. I probably should really stop thinking about it. LOL!

There's no good reason. From what i've seen the test was rescheduled several times and he didn't make it. If he couldn't make one and the NFL came down on him I could side with him.
I do understand your reason for waiting til the appeal process is over.

Bell tweet from 4/20 makes him look even worse, saying he was getting tested on that day and to say good luck with that sample .

You left the biggest addiction of them all off the list......TSF addiction (i.e. anyone over 13 and under 65 who has 20K + posts). Hee hee just kidding my friend although my Pastor always includes internet abuse with all the other addictions out there. Perhaps you two should compare sermon notes. Just saying.......

As far as sympathy - I feel for ya bro. ;)

If you view his violation as something he does for fun, I'd agree with you- how hard is it to follow the rules? I work in a position that requires I be clean-shaven, and I would say it would be very foolish and dumb and stupid of me to grow a beard. We're on the same page there- I signed up for it, I have to follow the rules.

But players have repeatedly spoken out about how this substance helps them manage pain. Need I source stories about how Mark Schlereth couldn't walk or the condition Mike Webster's brain was in?

This is an incredibly violent sport. As dumb as you might think these guys are, they certainly had to work hard and avoid trouble to get where they are. I can only imagine the amount of pain I'd have to be in to jeopardize $15MM a year.

Bell doesn't appear to be in any great deal of pain at this point. maybe when he's at the end of his career. There's other legal options to deal with pain.

Every other sport, job, etc... Has policies in place. Like em or not they're there and they were there a long time ago. As a matter of fact, they're still there as these fellas sign their name on the dotted line today.
Pain business? So is welding, warehousing, working on cars and digging ditches to name a few. Give me a break. These guys get blue ribbon physicians and top notch treatment to go with their millions of dollars contract. And they still whine and ***** and piss and moan about how hard it is or how much it hurts.
Or how unfair it that so and so makes more or that they can't smoke this or do that etc...

So Yeah, screw the new age brats that couldn't carry the jock of the guys who's sweat paved the way for these bitches to make 100 times the amount they did in a harder more PAINFUL GAME!

Not too mention, they had to have off season gigs to make ends meet as well.

If we piss dirty or miss MULTIPLE TESTS as dumb ass did, our families would feel it intensely.

Anyhow I got to go, and take my generic inflammation pill so I can pop and crack my way out of bed in the morning so I can go buy some more paper plates

Yep, they speak out more they have more outlets to let it be known, that they're young and stupid and treated unfairly. Meanwhile the guys that actually played a much more violent sport continue to gray and deteriorate and still call the new kids pussies

Also the word is, that when these guys are under that particular protocol that they have to seek permission to travel etc... Bottom line is he shirked his responsibilities and at this point in time I agree Glenn, he ain't worth 15$

Either you're joking or you're being disingenuous, but I have no idea how you can tell how much pain he may or may not be in.

I also think you're being disingenuous to say that legal options don't have life threatening downsides. I believe it was in PA that a very disturbing story of what Heroin addiction caused a mother of an 11 year old girl to do to get her fix in broke this week.

I'm not sure any manual labor job subjects you to things like this:
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

but I don't see why you're all so adamant on the rules staying the way they are. What exactly does everyone have to gain by punishing home use of the drug?
