Once upon a time in a land far away it was a big deal when your draft picks signed. Now it's yawn, as it should be. Negotiating the rookie cap was the best thing for both the teams and the players.

Not completely true with 3rd rd picks. For some reason, they have more negotiating room which was the hold up on Hargrave.

Signing a draft pick in early June is a hold up? Heck, I had dates in college willing to hold out for ever compared to that.

I can't wait to see him play. He's the guy I'm most excited for too.

The total worth of their contract isn't negotiable under the rookie salary cap, but there are little things they can negotiate like a roster bonus or a bigger signing bonus up front as this article explains:

Will Big Dan just let him come in and take over the position? I hope that Big Dan
will be competition for this Rook, he is in year three, the redshirt years should be over.
Time for big Dan to apply what the coaches have been teaching him.

I second that Hargrave will be the most impactful rookie this year. I also think Travis Feeney will turn the most heads. Here We Go!

Very excited about this d-line. Hate to lose McClendon but if Shade Tree is recovered from that cut block injury then I expect some progress from him this year. From the Tree's bulk to Hargrave's penetrating skills, I like the potential that variety can create.

If McCullers can stuff the run and then bring in Hargrave to rush the passer, you could have a good tandem there. But by seasons end, I expect Hargraves to be getting the bulk of the snaps, he can do it all. McCullers will come off the bench to spell him or when Hargraves is covering for Tuiit or Cam.

I guess if you were to compare Hargrave to another DT, the former viking John Randle would come to mind both are comparable in size, we can only hope Hargrave has a hall of fame career like Randle did and accumulates as many sacks as Randle...
