Having just spent considerable time listening to how great Gradkowski is and how terrible Vick was it made me realize how much I appreciate Tomlin for going against the grain and making unpopular choices.

Nobody likes Vick. He has a terrible reputation. That didn't stop Tomlin from being on board with adding Vick to his team as an experienced backup for the league minimum.

Axing Lebeau and Arians were also both unpopular with a lot of people.

Sitting Boykin and playing Blake also raised a lot of bad press.

I don't like the spin Tomlin uses sometimes but I admire the hell out of his willingness to change the team in unpopular ways for what he perceives as the greater good.

Tomlin has a lot of traits that I would want my coach to have if I played in the NFL. He is respected by his players, he does what he thinks is right even if it is against popular/fan opinion, he's aggressive in game (goes for the win), and very strong willed and hard headed. Those are all very "alpha" traits that every good leader should have.

People get on him because of his clock management/use of timeouts and his personnel decisions, but I think he does a great job for us.

Too bad the order to ax Arians came from the top. Tomlin had told Arians just prior to it, that he was his guy.

    1. Loyalty and Respect of his players.
No coach in the NFL can win without it, and over time we've seen great coaches lose it. If you polled the entire league about which coach players want to play for, I bet Tomlin would be near the top of the list. It's an intangible quality, but there is nothing more important in a head coach. His ability to sustain that through different "eras" of this roster is a testament to his head coaching credentials.

    2. Evolution of the team
We've seen this team evolve philosophically and schematically as much as any team in the NFL over Tomlin's tenure. When Tomlin arrived he was green. The schemes were in place, the philosophies remained. But over time, Tomlin has evolved as a coach. He's learned and developed HIS scheme/philosophy, and that has begun shining through over the last few years. It's been his team for awhile, but it's in his image now.

    3. Being Multiple
Before Tomlin we were a square peg team. We now win in many fashions, relative to the team we are facing.

Just wish we wouldn't loose games to lesser teams. This has been a trend for a several years now.

My biggest complaint about Coach Tomlin is that, off the field he is too politically correct in dealing with the media but in this day and age I guess he somewhat has to be.

My second biggest complaint is that he was hired with a specific reputable background as a very successful secondary coach that got results quickly from his squads. We haven't seen any of that whatsoever.

    3rd is evaluation of talent.

I fully support him but he does have his faults.

Hope he corrects these things cause this team will only go as far as Big Ben can take them and he ain't no spring chicken anymore. I think MT knows this as well.

I have to support Tomlin. But he needs to get that skirt off that the Ravens have put on him. Because he's Harbaugh's woman right now.

Tomlin has lost three straight to the Ravens. Including being eliminated at home in the 2014 playoffs.
