I saw a double feature at the drive in last night. The Creature from the Black Lagoon followed by The Thread That Wouldn't Die.

I was there, too. I fell asleep half way through. It wasn't over until after 12:00, and it was so foggy when we were trying to leave, it seemed like we'd never get home.

Alexander is possibly the next CB drafted but maybe Fuller goes first.

In any case Alexander was at least the 6th corner drafted.

CB is a highly sought position since every team wants at least 3 good corners. I wouldn't be surprised to see Alexander go in the second now that 5 players at his position have already gone.

    1. Ramsey
    2. Apple
    3. Hargreaves
    4. W Jax
    5. Burns
    6. ?

Crazy that the "next Darrelle Revis" wasn't a 1st. Can't believe the Steelers let him slip.

    Us :yahoo:

J/k, but obviously I think we should have taken him over Burns, do you like Burns better then him too?

I didn't look at Burns very closely but I fully trust the Steelers coaches hahaha. I'm not one to second guess haha.

At least the Steelers drafted a corner. It had been overlooked since forever.

Burns is a raw athlete pick like Dupree or Timmons was.

I think W Jax would have been a better pick based on his better size and athleticism and that they are both projects but Burns will be in a much better environment to succeed.

I think Burns will have the better career.

Yes, I like Burns over Alexander. Alexander bombed the combine and I feel is one of those players who benefitted from being on a great team.

No, they let the next Casey Hampton slip! Ok, not really but that definitely should have been the pick.

I'll warm up to Burns, its just that there were several players that I would have liked at 25 and we got none of them :lolol:

Fair enough. I don't know a lot about college football players. That's why my opinion has been very limited to a few players.

I think the Bears got a total bust in Floyd for example. At best he will be a mediocre pass rush specialist.

The Steelers do need depth at NT. I don't think Billings will be close to the run stuffer that Hampton was.

I think Billings is better suited to a 4-3 like Aaron Donald.

It's going to be interesting to see where we go on the D-line. Especially at NT.

Ever go to the old "Camp Horne Drive-In"? That's exactly what it was like going home on a regular basis.

Alexander was not a 3rd rounder.

Nope. 23rd pick of the 2nd round. He was so close!

I am surprised that 6 CBs went that early ahead of Alexander. I thought 6 CBs would go later ahead of Alexander.

    My bad.

Pretty well the thread died when people got over the "conspiracy" of sitting Boykin to move up one round in the draft.

It was perceived by some as blasphemy to question the coaches' story on Boykin.

I forget... is Arians still retired?

I catch so much heat for dropping knowledge: Boykin was sat to keep a 4th round pick instead of a 5th.

The secondary held up OK at the start of the season. The Steelers had not given up 30 points in a game until the D got lit up by the Raiders in the 9th game. Manziel put up 372 yards in the 10th game. RW had 5TDs in the 11th game. At that point it was necessary to make a change in the secondary.

By then Boykin's snaps were low enough that the better draft pick was secured and he was played the second most of any Steelers cornerback. Only William Gay had more snaps from the Colts game on. For Boykin to be abruptly inserted into the defense and go from almost no snaps to the second most snaps means he understood the defense.

If you go back and look at how the Steelers coaches praised Boykin upon his signing every one of them focused on his great knowledge of the game.

It really is that simple: the secondary was doing well enough until they were exposed by Carr, Manziel and Wilson in consecutive weeks forcing a change. And the Steelers got the better draft pick too. Win win.

No need to attack Boykin whatsoever. No need to make strawmen arguments about how people think Boykin is a HOF or Darrelle Revis etc.

There is a fine line between dropping knowledge and passing your opinion off as facts and I think you flirt with that line enough to be considered actively pursuing it.

 Why? Now we have to read several more pages about how Oswald didn't act alone, Princess Di was murdered by British secret operatives and the moon landing was faked. Thanks jeh!

    The moon landing?!?! WTF?! Hahaha!

I thought we were talking football but this guy want to talk about NASA circa 1968.

Doesn't get much dumber than this.
