they seem to think the kid has the talent to do it. i look for chick to play alot this season. maybe jones moves inside for a look. they seemed to drop him more often last year. we have options. mccord and even palmer from baylor are in camp. palmer was pretty good for them to begin with at getting after the qb, but injuries really set him back after that in college. they are on the hunt it seems.

Or it could mean they finally looked at the game tape and realized they have basically no talent at the DB position ? So there is really no doubt that those 2 should start, hell if I showed up they should start me .lol. Anything is better than what they have been fielding.

Fine that was the 90's do you remember the 90's.....I don't lol. My point is that Butler has been here since 2003 learning under DL and BC, hard to think that because they knew each other in the 90's that they are on the same page ya know?

I think a lot has to do with nobody in front of these kids to keep them off the field anymore, NY. CBA is of course part of it too.

I am rooting just as hard as anyone and want all these guys to succeed but until I see him make that step I have to go with what I have seen. Which hasn't been much on Chick and a very injury history on feeney. We are going to be without JH and probably JJ too next year, if one of these guys steps up fine but right now knowing what I know I say there is a big need. I hope both step up and fill that need and we draft an OLB high next year to help. jmo

this is the year to find out what these guys are made of before we have to blindly make a high pick next year. i still have hopes of feeney next to shazier in the future. i believe we will draft one next year but we can determine how high we need to go this year without a lot of pressure since james and jj are still here. moats is another security blanket too. same way with vince and fort and johnson as security to find out what matekevich has.

Hey I don't know about all that other stuff. Just seemed like you were unaware that they had worked together in the past that's all.

Agreed, this is a big year and who knows maybe they re sign JJ.......! I also feel with what I read on Feeney he is more of an OLB then ILB, which I am fine with cause Matakevich is gonna be next to Shazier........:beg:

Not sure about the 2015 reference. I watched him play in 7 games? Played like an enthusiastic rookie.

I am not doubting his enthusiasm I am totally rooting for him loved the pick when we drafted him. I am just saying until I see him, (what we saw in 2015 was very very limited) it is going to be hard for me to say Chick is our answer to OLB in 2017.

    That's one word for it...

A programme came on TV the other night called "I Remember the 1990s". I said to my wife: "Well of course they remember the 1990s - it was only, what, four years ago?"

I think I just stopped counting after around '97.

Just thinking about when I'm 80 (doubtful that I make it that far) and I'm talking to my great grandkids like "Roethlisberger would have made that play" and they will say "who?"

They'll say: "C'mon great granddad, that was back when teams had to play against a defense, and the game was sooooo boring because the score rarely went over 200 points each."

Both have shown nothing so far, I was very high on both when we drafted them. Zumwalt has been injured and cut/settlement and Chick went from a DE to OLB.

Now where all this started was with us not picking up JJ's 5th year option and me wondering why they didn't draft a OLB higher with a look at OLB in 2017. Right now we have no idea what we have in Chick, Zumwalt, Feeney and JJ and JH could both be gone in 2017. Either way now with Fenney and Zumwalt injury is always a worry.

We are going to learn a lot about these guys this year but as of right now we know nothing except that we won't have JJ and JH next year. Lots of questions and I really hope Zumwalt and Chick step up and answer them but at the time of my post I felt there wasn't much to go on with these two.

How do you know JJ won't be resign? They probably didn't pick up his 5th year option because it probably puts the Steelers too close to the cap and he isn't worth 8mil either. But I do believe they'll resign him to a more reasonable contract.
