What would be the point of drafting Sean Davis then? Should they sign Rolle, Davis is just a luxury pick.

 

Rolle would allow you to ease Davis in. I'm not saying I want Rolle but I'm just putting a "best case" scenario out there. I want to see who else is released. Remember, we want AB (funny using that for A. Burns) to start so then shouldn't two experienced safeties be starting?

Now the question is, is Rolle that guy? I think he's coming off an MCL injury. But if he is, he's had a year to fully recover.

 

Where we going to put him? On the FART DUST SQUAD?

 

Golden > Rolle

Why do people forget about Golden? Barring injury, Steelers starting safeties on September 12th will be Robert Golden and Mike Mitchell. Let it be written, let it be done.

 

I guess it's about faith you have in a player. People don't have faith in Golden. But here's hoping that he can supply us with some veteran play and leadership if he's out there with Mitchell.

Rolle signed a 3 year contract with the bears and they cut him after 1 year, in 7 game starts before injury he showed his age, so the bears drafted two safeties and cut him, we dont need him here, we dont need to ease SD into the safety position, we need to get him on the field right away and pre season will tell the coaches a lot about this big safety....

 

I was just trying to justify getting Rolle in a best case scenario. I personally want him to start as long as he starts in the SS position. Not ready to trust him in a FS spot. I want him and Burns to get those spots and we go from there.

 

With his length and speed he can probably play both safety positions very well, I'm looking forward to seeing him play in pre season games, he is smart as well, should be a quick learner, I expect him to get plenty of playing time this year if not starting....

 

First, Rolle, no. They just let an aging guy walk. If the brass thought Golden was the answer they wouldn't have drafted Davis in the 2nd round. I expect the safety's on day one of the regular season to be Mitchell and Davis. Unless Davis craps the bed like Thomas. The Shark is going to be fighting for a roster spot and I feel he will be the odd man out. Had high hopes but it just didn't pan out for the kid.

The Steelers must have some faith in Golden they kept him around and gave him a 3 yr deal.

 

Just a question when do the vets start getting cut? I was just wondering if anyone else may hit the wavier wire.
