Ok so I keep reading this is the guy the Steelers have a ton of interest in, I know we have talked some about him here but with just a couple days to go I want to hear everyone's thoughts. Me personally don't like the pick so I am open to hear what everyone has to say about him. I only watched a little of him and to be fair he is ok but I just don't like him at 25, thoughts?

Don't like him at 25 either. At 58 I think he'd be a good option, just don't see him as that much better than the other 2nd round safeties. I believe Karl is the only safety worth a first round pick.

What don't you like about him, NY? I don't know why so many are down on this kid, I bought into the negativity towards him at first, before checking him out but I like him now. As this article points out, he wasn't 100% and played on a team without a supporting cast, like other big name prospects. I love that he brings the pain too. I get envious when I see Kam blowing people up for Seattle or during the SB last year when Denver was drilling guys. You need guys like that on defense, it takes its toll on the other team over the course of 60 minutes.

I guess I could have added him to my dirty list, I feel better already, I think I'll go do that :lolol:

I do admit, this kid is a hitter. An intimidator. But he seems to know when to turn it off and when to turn it on. That's my type of football. :this!:

Neal seams to be a name that I keep reading as "a very good option" for us at 25 and I just don't get it, I am hoping this is one of them smoke screens, lol.
Blast I know we had this conversation before but I just don't like the idea of us taking him in the 1st. I have to go back to my notes which are home and refresh what I didn't like from him. I don't know how some of you guys do it but watching so many prospects I get lost especially when I am not impressed with a guy.

I will say yes he is a hitter and yes he would be nice in run support but can't we get that in round 2-3 in Killebrew? I want a S that can tackle but is also a ballhawk first. I just feel Neal in the 1st would not offer as much as Apple-Fuller-Billings-pass rusher. JMO

When I get home tonight I will be able to give you more details on my feelings for him.....however work is gonna get in the way of the rest of the afternoon, lol!

@Blast Furnace@Blast Furnace, what I didn't like about him was while being a big hitter he also forgets to wrap and misses out on the tackle. From the notes I had from over a month ago he was a hitter but missed on tackles while also guessing wrong on others. I didn't see enough of him in the passing game( I watched the Bama and Fla St games) to justify him as an answer to our secondary and defiantly not worth the #25 pick. JMO

Is he a force in the run game heck yeah but what direction is the NFL going in? The NFL is getting to be more "2 hand touchish" and is becoming more of a passing league. I feel the S class is loaded and there are a few guys with his talent in the 2nd and even the 3rd. In the 2 games I watched not much stood out to me other then him being a big hitter and IMO I feel we could do a ton better in the 1st. Apple, Wjax3 and Fuller are guys I feel offer more value to us in the 1st.

Thanks for your take on him. I didn't think any of those things were glaring problems, its not like when I watched Apple and said "ohhhh, yeah, thats some bad tackling". And I have not seen or read anywhere that he is a liability in coverage, just the opposite.

As for as the league becoming 2 hand touch, you just have to play by the rules, its harder to do but you can still pop people. You will never be able to light people up like the old days but you can still put a lick on someone. I miss the intimidating factor our defense used to have, I'd gladly take a guy like Neal. Him and Mitchell would be a nice duo back there, they'd lay some wood.

There are a bunch of guys I like in this draft though, unless something comes out of left field tomorrow night that I don't like, I think I will be pleased with our 25th pick.

We need a safety that puts fear in wide receivers running that crossing route. Cam Chancellor has that type of respect and if possible, it would be nice to get a thumper like that. But I know the first priority we want in a safety is his ability to cover and ballhawk.
