There you go making **** up again. Why don't you actually look at top stats before spouting them? FYI we pass more now.

You mean the one that was bailed out by the offense in the waning moments? What about the vaunted defense that gave up 31 points to GB?

Yeah when Polamalu just watched that pick 6 from the bench and didn't even try to tackle Nick Collins I flipped out.

Tomlin would have done it if he were in position.

The formation called on the Fitzgerald TD was the problem. Madden had remarked a couple of times how far split the Safeties were. But let's not quiver here, the '08 defense was a great defense, I don't think that can be questioned.

As for 2010, that was a great offense GB had. They hung 30+ points on many opponents. Not too mention, all the turnovers we had that game gave them pretty good field position. I'm not trying to say the 2010 defense was the calibre of the '08 team.

You are correct. The old gray cells aren't what they used to be.

Yes the Cards absolutely exploited the Steelers middle. Fitz ran a bunch of slant and gos right up the seam. That Cardinals passing offense was one of the best ever in the playoffs. Fitz set a record for rec yards in a postseason by more than 100. Warner is the 3rd highest rated passer in postseason history with 102. They were going to get yards through the air though 377 was too much.

2010 defense was still pretty good. If you take away that pick 6 Steelers win 25-24. You can't really do that obviously but being down 14-0 in the 1st was too much to overcome.

I reconcile it with the fact the loss was to the Packers. I really admire their fan base.

A loss to the Seahawks, Cowboys or Niners would have been excruciating.

In 2008 our offense was ranked 20th. 17 in Passing Offense. 23 in Rushing Offense. 20 in Scoring Offense. Was it not? Under Haley we have been ranked 1st. Have we not? I'm not sure how you're saying that I'm making stuff up. I will let you read it for yourself right here.

    Top = time of possession

In reference to your ball control comment

You're also comparing apples to oranges. Our wide receivers now are better our offensive line is better....

The OL is better now but the WRs are a wash.

Ward, Wallace, Sanders, ARE, AB and a prime Heath Miller was a very nice group. No excuses there.

AB and Wallace weren't there in 08 though and that's what we were talking about since that's when we won the Super Bowl last. You're right that that other group was good though.

Ward was nothing more than a possession receiver. A good one, but just a possession receiver nonetheless. Not the type of player that can take over a ballgame. Wallace wasn't even a possession receiver, just fast with no hands. He's basically dhb without special teams or blocking ability. ARE? Really? What we had was a very average at best group of wide receivers then.

What is the point? Decline the option and let him become a free agent. In the unlikely event that he doesn't suck the chrome off a bumper again this year, he likely could be re-signed to a friendlier deal than one starting at $8 million. He's accumulated 87 tackles and 5 sacks in his career ... which equates to 1 mediocre season for a starting OLB.

I thought you and I were talking about 2008. In that year I actually think Hines was still pretty good. Don't you?

I love Hines, but that doesn't change the fact he was just a possession receiver. He didn't demand double teams, couldn't beat you with speed, wasn't the guy that could take over a game. He was a just a very good football player.

The Steelers can pick up Jones option but if there's no injury they can release him before the 2017 league year starts.

upload_2016-4-25_21-21-54.png ...that JJ will break-out this season but much like alien abduction stories it will probably end with bad memories (hopefully not from probing).
