I think there are two senses of 'rival'.

Rivalry for top spot/place in the play-offs/superbowl etc. - you look to the best teams. Last year, that was the Bengals. If we manage the draft well, we could legitimately rival the Pats.

Rivalry borne from genuine hatred between the two teams based on their similarity of play and attitude - that was always the Ravens. I think the Bengals have moved some way into that spot with messrs Burfict et al., but for me it will still be the Ravens for some while yet.

For me, one season, and especially one game doesn't make a rivalry. Therefore, even though the week leading up to the Bengals game will be quite entertaining, I still view the Ravens as our biggest rival. Now, I'm a Steelers fan. For fans of other areas, the last Cincinnati game will be more fresh in their heads. Therefore a greater ratings game.

I expect the Bengals to be devestated by injuries in the next few seasons.

With their cheapshots on the Steelers and Ravens they really poked the bear. Those games are going to be rough for them.

Also nobody will underestimate the Bengals now. They have a lot of undeserved hype for some reason.

Ravens and it is not even close. Now if Cincy/Burfict ends the season of several of our players again they will start to creep up, but the Ravens were built in the exact image of the Steelers and tried to out Steeler the Steelers, if that makes any sense. The Ravens are the little brother always clammering for attention even when it isn't deserved.

Cincy I would say is like that annoying cousin, they are only around once in a while to annoy you...

In reading the bungles message board their fans want Marvin Lewis gone, they were upset when the owner gave him a 1 year extension. I think he should have been fired as well, if he cant win a playoff game why keep him around, and the rats will always be our most hated rival, we know we own the bungles, but the rats always find a way to make our games with them tough even when they have a bad team.....

I`m reading the question as who is our biggest rival right now.

Right now I hate the Bungles and I wish Burfict was dead, so I voted Bungles.

Steelers/Ravens is one of the greatest rivalries in the NFL let alone the AFC North. How can you not go with that?

I just wore my Steelers sweat shirt on a flight from Seattle to Baltimore.

I wore Steelers stuff all around seattle, and no one said a peep to me. Except the lady at Southwest airlines, who checked my bag.
She gave me a Steelers Nation fist bump.

But, flying to Baltimore, a lot of people gave me some crap. I told them I would say something but being that you had 2 of your 5 wins against us, i'll just keep my mouth shut. But, the playoffs were fun.

I think it's still alive and well. But, at least Ravens and Steelers respect each other, they don't like each other, but they aren't down right dirty like the Bengals were last year.

Side note, on the connecting flight to Buffalo from Baltimore, Rob Ryan and I were on the same flight. He's the assistant head coach now for the Bills for brother Rex.

Still remember the guy at Grille 36 before the Ravens thursday night game last year wearing a Justin Tucker jersey. One of the few Ravens jerseys in the place and it's that of a kicker.

I'd actually give him kudos for that.

Although maybe it was his brother or something.

    Please..

Ravens/Steelers IS still the premier rivalry. Ask Tomlin. He's wearing a skirt that Harbaugh put on him over three games ago.

I think Scobee took that skirt when he was cut by Tomlin.

Tomlin has lost three in a row to Harbaugh including being put out of the 2014 playoffs by the Ravens. Last year's two Ravens losses put us on the road in Denver last year too. Not being able to handle the Ravens has had a negative effect on us. They've screwed us in every way possible and I"m mad as hell about it.

Ravens, Cheaters then the Bungals. Would be interesting if the Browns would ever come up with an NFL level team.

Ravens, then Patriots.. then Bengals. Actually, Patriots vs. Steelers is not even a rivalry. Patriots and Brady *****-slap the Steelers just about every time they play. 2011 was an anomaly. I'm excited for every game except the one on October 23rd. I'll probably have a headache by the 2nd quarter.

Pats have had success against our Steelers but not since 2004 have they knocked them out of the playoffs.

Based on that alone the Ravens are the biggest rivals.

Ravens for me. I don't hate the Bengals, maybe I hate one or two guys, but they just aren't relevant enough to deserve such hatred. After that, Patriots, but no so much as a rivalry, just general hatred on principal.

I voted before I read the article...

I really don`t give the scheduling prefrences of the league much weight, on determining a "rivalry".
To me, it has more to do with the competetiveness between the two teams when they play each other...

I also didn`t understand the inclusion of the Pat`s on the list, when the question was who is the biggest AFC NORTH rival...

In the poll, I voted Patriots, because they have had our number recentley, and are the team we need to figure out how to beat, to get to the SB, more often than not...

And I personally hate those cheaters, more than either of the other two teams.

They are not an AFC NORTH rival however, and we don`t have to face them twice a year...

As far as the divsion rivals, I would say they are pretty equal, with a slight edge to Cincy most recentley, because of last season.

I would also make the argument, that even going back 7 years or so, there is a lot of bad blood, tough games, and brutality on the field whenever we play against EITHER of those teams...

Ask Andy what he thinks of our defender rolling into his knee in his first playoff game(I forget who did it, it was unintentional, and I`m thinking it was Kimo Von Olhaffen, or sumthin` like that...)...

Ask Their wide reciever that Hines Ward broke his jaw on a block, ask Ocho stinko how he felt, when Troy handed him back his gold tooth, after knocking it out on the field...

We`ve had PLENTY of hard fought, close games against the Bungles, over the last several years, while the national media was hyping up(and rightfully so), our "slobberknockers", against the Cravens...

While Cowher and Porter were leading the "Who Dey? WE DEY!!!" chant after a playoff game...
When one of those chumps stomped on our Terrible Towel before a game they lost..

I don`t deny the ongoing feud we`ve had with Cincy, who proclaimed "There is a new bully on the block", after they got a win against us..

    I`m just sayin...

Our rivalry with the Cravens(the old Clowns), may get all the hype...

But, we`ve had to put on our "big boy pants" against Cincy, for awhile now, too...

More often than not, we don`t sweep the series against either team...

New England hands us our hats more often percentage wise, than either of them do.

    Hate them!

    GO STEELERS!!!
