you mean wallace? thats what i thought was a possibility to but swartz is a guard and tackle. this is kind of whats throwing me and why my thoughts about this being a cover our butts for DD possibly leaving if we can't afford to sign him.

there has been talk of drafting a guard too. i thought for maybe fosters spot but he's now re-signed for 3 years. why would we bring guys in and draft one too?

hubbard is a c/g/t, finney is a c/g and has played some tackle. as someone said maybe they aren't that high on these two. hubbard has been around for going on 4 years now and filled in well when asked. at LT no less.

ryan harris seems to be a 1 year rental because of adams, i can see that. maybe we will cut wallace and use that money elsewhere. hubbard doesn't cost a lot for his versatility.

No I think they may not want to pay the type of money that Pouncey may want ..If it comes down to paying DD or Pouncey I think we have to take DD .

Didn't Pouncey just sign a long deal a year to go?

Pouncey is signed through 2019, and it would cost us about 4.5 million to cut him. Dead cap $15 mil vs current cap hit of $10.5. Not much more to say on it.

I am not thinking a cut this season at all, I am thinking about next season. I think his base is like 3.5 Million for this season and it jumps to like 7.5 next season . If Pouncey gets banged up again and DD stays healthy and on the field the Team would have to consider letting Pouncey go and paying DD .

I just don't see us cutting Pouncey.

We should make a decision on DD this offseason, and I expect that will happen.

OK i hope we can keep him , I am just not sure we can keep them both long term and even though Pouncey is under contract I would rather have DD over Pouncey if forced to choose..

If Pouncey and DeCastro can stay healthy for the entire season... the 7th is within reach.

Plus... Bell needs to sit for the Bengals games.

No way do you sit someone for fear of injury regardless of the opponent. Unless the top seed is locked up and even then it is debatable.

I think there was green font intended there. Or maybe like White Goodman would say, "Im kidding but not really".

I think they can keep both.
I don't believe DD will break the bank on this contract. If he continues on the path he's on it's the next contract I'm worried about.
Worst case we can tag him for a couple years. We did it with Starks so it's a possibility.

that gets expensive too. in a couple of years we will have AV to pay for too if he remains our LT. alot could change in a couple of years though.

Mac, I understand what your saying. None of us knows what's going on behind the scenes. The Pouncey contract is a cap killer for years to come so he stays another season or two. Maybe we can see a full season under center? Makes me wonder about DeCastro and his upcoming contract next season. He will cost 8 mill this year. Some major star contracts coming up that will break the bank. Can't keep everyone so lunch pale players are needed a low cost and depth is needed.

On a side note glad they are looking to provide depth for the D Line and that Tomato Cam Thomas is no longer in Black and Gold. What a waste.

i think a lot depends on timmons and if he plays beyond this season or if he hangs them up. 15 mil. could go a long way. if they let him play out this year and he does retire, we free up some money. they haven't extended him yet, which makes me think he may be leaning this way. the turf toe thing could make a difference. he was slowed early last year with it but played out the season well. he is slowing down some and has a lot of wear and tear on him. he hasn't missed many snaps since he took over that spot.

as for pouncey, we need this guy on the field. we are much more mobile with him even with foster. wallace played OK but he and foster side by side created some clear shots at ben that could be avoided with pounceys quickness added. what happens will be interesting, money wise after this year.

Timmons is like the elephant in the room. I feel they might try to extend him not breaking the bank but I wouldn't be surprised like you said if they let him play it out and see where the chips land for next season. Pouncey obviously takes the O Line up a notch but can he stay healthy? The truth is that most of his injuries were freak. Wallace held his own and glad they have him and might be called on again. Another Pouncey season ender and it will be time to cut ties next season even with that nutty contract. Lets hope he can finally stay on the field. The time is now...

I hated that contract for pouncey when we made it, most teams dont pay 44 million for a center and make him the 4th highest paid center in the league, especially one that keeps going on IR, I think pouncey is overrated, after the top 7 high paid centers theres a big drop off in center salary the majority of teams are paying for that position, heres the list:

Protect Ben. A healthy Ben all season will place us in a great position for a run for another ring!
