With limited Knowledge Mock 1.0 was only 4 rds. This one will be all 7.

Also using Fanspeak's simulator with CBS as the draft board I hoped to get a more "realistic" draft. I've done maybe 30 so far and today's results I'm publishing.

RD1) William Jackson lll CB ----- Immediately helps ST and by season's end should be starting.
RD2) Austin Johnson DT ---- Much Needed Depth on the DL, immediately
RD3) Miles Killebrew SS ---- Immediately Helps ST, Will Push Golden this year
RD4) Tyler Ervin RB----- I was excited to see him still here. Can start this year but Bell & Williams he might not get many snaps. Either way He'll be the Top RB Backup next year and possibly get snaps this year, guards against injury and should be a STer in the mean time.
RD6) Deiondre' Hall CB----- BPA and @ a Need, beautiful combination
RD7) Nick Richter OT--- Don't know much about him, good size small school guy.... Mike Adams' replacement
RD7) Eric Mac Lain OG-- Again, don't know Much about him, good size, athletic former TE

    What say you SteelerNation????

I've only read up on those 2, haven't seen any film on them. I like getting OL late in hopes of finding gems like Beechum since our OL is okay now...

Leaving off OLB & ILB was hard ..... WR is actually a need soon. Wheaton in on his final yr and DHB is Not the answer, Coates is an unknown and Bryant is a ticking time bomb.

I did a mock using drafttek board and 2 of the top 4 QB was at 25..... Hmmm.... Ben has 4-5 yrs left.... He has no viable backups..... Could we do a Greenbay draft when they took Aaron ????

I like this draft but I wish we had an Olb option in the 3rd round but its a draft that definitely fills needs.

I think it fills some positions of need on paper, but I'm not sure it fills them with the right players.

    1. I think WJ III has the potential to be a good starting corner.... in 2017 or 2018. He needs a lot of work to tackle or fight off blocks at anything close to an NFL level, and that can also limit his special teams impact. The good thing is that he seems to be at his best in the types of coverage we use, and he can he help in downfield coverage on passing downs. We'll just have to hope he improves his tackling in space quickly enough to make an early impact.

    2. Haven't watched enough of Austin to comment.

    3. I don't get what people are seeing in Killebrew at all. I've watched his games on draft breakdown, and I don't see much more than a guy who occasionally lays the wood. I'm not sure he has the tools to cover downfield in the NFL.

    4. Indications are that we really like Ervin. The good news is that he's not Dri Archer v 2.0. Not even close. Ervin is good returner, runner and receiver. He returns both kicks and punts, so he offers great special teams value. He has the vision and wiggle that Archer lacks, and looks faster in pads despite measuring slower in shorts. However, I've seen nothing to indicate that he can be an NFL feature back. I watched 3 games, and I don't think I saw him throw a single block. He also has a tendency to go down at first contact, and doesn't push the pile. I would not be bummed if we took him in the 4th, but I would never expect him to be a starter. Maybe he can if he gains 10 - 15 lbs of muscle, but he doesn't look like a guy who can carry it. I expect him to be a change of pace back and returner. Kind of a poor man's Sproles (but hopefully not too poor).

    6. Hall is a great value here IMO. I expect him to be gone by the 4th. I also expect him to be a safety at the NFL level. I think he lacks the quick twitch and acceleration to be a good corner, but he has the traits to be a very good safety.

    7a & 7b - no idea on these guys.

Like Elvis said it fills some spots of need but

    1. I'm still not sold on us taking a CB in the first. On top of our history at doing that I'm not seeing Ramsey fall to us and after him I'm just unimpressed with the other "1st rounders".

    2. like what I've read on the guy and we definitely need depth.

    3. Killebrew (on top of having an awesome last name) looks like he could be a steal in the 3rd for me. Especially if he improves some of his reads in the passing game. Reading a lot of comps to Bucannon from Arizona.

    4. I'm with Elvis on this one as I don't ever see him as a feature back. However as that special teams guys and possible change of pace back I like.

6-7th. I don't know much about any of these guys unfortunately.

    1) I agree Jackson style fits ours and that he needs to show he can tackle.... Problem is in this simulated draft he was the best left in the first and the skill level left in the 2nd just wasn't going to be there when we drafted. He did have 43 tackles ( 34 solo ) with 5 ints ... 2 TD

    3) Miles is a SS/ILB hybrid , he had 132 tackles ( 74 ) solo and in today's NFL he fits...... Here in the 3rd he's a solid pick, immediate STer and will push Golden...... Thing is I really wanted FS Houston-Carson but he was already gone. Agree Miles isn't the best cover guy but he'll make his presence known in the box.....

    4) I like Irvin..... That change of pace, receiving back we want need but Dri failed.... Irvin won't .... Agree he's not much of a blocker but when he's in he'll have FB Nix in front of him/ and screens

    6) Hall won't be there in the sixth but in this simulator he was so I Stole him... To me he's a FS/CB and makes him useful, can change defensive schemes/ assignments without substitutions..... Also should really help STs.... And since I missed on Houstin-Carson he wasn't getting away

Not a Fan Powell, nice size and hands but bad tackler, Hoilman 2.0- probably won't get draft till at best day two, possibly day three.
I like Nassib alot, real good motor, high upside......if you want him it'll be in the 2nd rd most likely. Love the other two guys.

I would take Simmons over Powell. And I'd rather get another CB in the first 4 rounds.

If they want to double up and take a CB in the first and fourth, there'd be no argument from me. We need all the talent we can get back there.

I mentioned that before draft a CB rd 1 maybe Apple or Jackson, then draft Cyrus Jones in the 4th he's short but can be a return guy on special teams.

There are better safeties than Powell available in the 2nd Karl Joseph, Justin Simmons, Keanu Neal. I like the other 3 picks though.

If you think Jarvis Jones is the answer, then I guess an OLB/ edge rusher is not a top three pick.

WJ3 is definitely a very tempting prospect. Lots of potential there. But as was pointed out, I think he is a ways off from being a major contributor.

I think the Steelers would love to get Alexander from Clemson if they go CB in the 1st round. I think him and Apple are the better fits and are a bit more ready now.

Love Killebrew in the 3rd. I know you aren't high on him but I'm actually looking at Cravens in the 2nd if he were there. But I can definitely live with Killebrew in the 3rd.

Elvis - I think want Killebrew brings is an instant presence on ST. He's a big body that can move well enough to be a SS down the road. He does need work, especially in coverage. What really stands out to me above all else is his open field tackling. May be one of the best in the draft in this regard.

So, on Killebrew, the games I've watched have not been that impressive from a coverage perspective. Its not that he covered poorly, he just didn't really drop deep enough in those games to gauge what skills he really has. A couple of his highlight films show some nice downfield coverage and deep zone awareness, so maybe there's something there. I'm not that intrigued though. IMO the hard hitting in the box safety is no longer an every down player unless he is excellent in coverage. With today's rules and being in sub packages 70% of the time, safeties need to defend the pass first and foremost. Yes, they need to defend the run, but I think that's job #2. If there's truly a 225 lb do-it-all safety out there, great. However, im not seeing him in this crop. Im seeing some smaller guys who are very good against the pass, and decent to solid vs the run, which is what I want. I'm also seeing guys who are like hybrid small LBs/big safeties. I'm not so sure I want one of them unless he's the 3rd safety in a big nickel. Not a starter though. That's just my view. I love Joseph, Thompson and Simmons in this class. I think Simmons is currently the most underrated prospect in this entire draft class. On tape, I think he's clearly a Top 50 overall talent. He then backed up the tape with great measurables at the combine, yet the media ignore him and rate him as a 6th rounder. Some smart team is going to grab him a lot earlier than that. I hope it's us. I also see Deondre Hall as a solid safety prospect, but he will need a bit more bulk and tackling work to be a starter.

yea elvis i agree about simmons. when i first brought him up i noticed his field awareness. his quickness numbers are on par with any corner and this cat will make some team better. hopefully us. i do still like tj green too as a guy that could be very good. he may need a little coaching in some areas but the tools are there.

Well, Tomlin personally had a lengthy talk with WJ3, and with Tomlin's background, he should have a good handle on where WJ3 is at. Apple is more ready now but I just cant see him making it to us. Not a fan of Alexander..too short for me. In a division with A.J. Green and Perriman, I want a #1 cornerback with all the measurable because he's going to need to play some for real man on man coverage's when we see Brady and the like.

Do the Steelers move up in the 2nd to take Joseph? It should be interesting at WVU 4-4-2016. Lets see who shows up.
