Unfortunately, I thought that this would inevitably happen anyway so I'm not really surprised. Very disappointed, but not surprised. So much talent but he isn't smart enough to even use it.

    This is from thesportingnews.com

Bryant served a four-game suspension at the start of the 2015 season after violating the NFL substance abuse policy. He was unsuccessful in appealing the suspension, cited for several failed drug tests due to marijuana use.

That suspension placed Bryant in "stage three" of the league's substance abuse policy, meaning any subsequent infractions could result in a season-long ban. However, according to this explainer from Behind the Steel Curtain, marijuana use in Stage Three would result in a 10-game suspension.

Stage Three players are subject to unannounced tests. In the event of a season-long ban, their reinstatement is at the discretion of Commissioner Roger Goodell.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Bryant plans to appeal the suspension.

So you are advocating using him to the fullest extent, getting all we can out of him despite how wrong he makes the team look, how bad it reflects on the morals the team puts forth and how embarrassing it is to the team?

Yah, its pot. If hes not cut, then after he serves his suspension and he can help, I'm all for it.

If the Steelers cut him, we're on to Coates.

What good would cutting him do at this point, honestly? I believe he loses a year of eligibility with his contract. So if 2016 was going to be the 3rd year of his 4 year contract; 2017 will be year 3, and so on.

Regardless, I wouldn't mind seeing the Steelers kick the tires of Wallace. I doubt they will, and I'm sure Wallace believes he's worth more than he is... But, I think a one year "prove it" deal would work out for everyone involved.

No good. You want to retain rights to him as he'll be on the reserve/suspended list.

There's nothing wrong with him. If this government wasn't run by pharmaceutical companies, this wouldn't have even registered as a problem.

We supposedly get relief for his 600k salary on our cap number, so there's no reason to anything with him but stash him on suspended reserve - or whatever they call it. We'll see what we do to find another WR.

Trying to stay positive, KC is excellent at evaluating WR talent.
Might not be able to evaluate Db's or OL but he can WR's

I think that was how Von Miller got his four game suspension wasn't it? He was in stage three and they told him to show up and he didn't.

Blast, the problem I have with this is his suspension not only punishes Bryant, but it hurts the team. His suspension pays his dept to the NFL, but the team has been hurt far worse by his actions. Paying a guy to be off work for a year then welcoming him back with open arms isn't my idea of serving his punishment to the team. Now we also have to pay his replacement.

I think this is why he didn't play his first game back last year. They listed him as injured, but there was more than one writer who suggested the team wasn't happy with him.

    Edit:
I see Elvis's post that we get relief from the cap for his suspension.

Players don't get paid during suspension... It's why his contract will essentially be suspended one year, and continue once he is reinstated.. Not including whatever fines he will be forced to pay, if any, I guess.

I get what you're saying, but he won't get paid to be off work.

True, though few are. So hard to see talent wasted like this.

I disagree with calling it "devastating"...

    Yes, it definitely hurts...

However, this is a TEAM sport, and we still have some pretty good talent all over the field, on both sides of the ball..

Maybe this gives Sammie a chance to shine, or, on the flipside, us, a chance to find out he won`t cut it, sooner than we planned... #lookin4thesilverlining...

There is usually only ONE player on the field, that is "irreplaceable", no matter what the coach says about "NO ONE" is irreplaceable...

And that is a franchise qb... few teams have them, all of them want one...

I would love to buy into the cliche, `cause I agree with the principle of it...

And, when we had a guy I will not name, We showed that you can surround a "game manager", with talent, and still win...

Hell, The Broncos just showed that with an "average" qb, and a kick-ass D, you can get the trophy!

Never thought that old man would be "average", but he was, last year!!!

Anyhow, the argument to all that is...

Look what we are without Ben...

Lucky to win a couple games, with our back-ups...

The loss of Ben, would b DEVASTATING...

Any one else on the team, hurts, but can be overcome.

Even Bell, now that we have Williams..

We have some decent depth, at most positions, compared to the rest of the league..

Esp at WR... I`m not "devastated"...
    Just Dissappointed...

Thought this kid understood he couldn`t screw up again...

I was wrong, Sadly for us, and him!

I feel for him, but he made his choices for himself....

If he`d rather get high, than make millions of dollars, that`s his call...

Gonna make it harder to buy the bags, tho...

    GO STEELERS!!!:yeehaw:

I read that the Steelers drafted Coates because they had concerns about MB's off-field issues. I thought it was a wasted pick seeing how loaded the team appeared to be at the WR position but it just goes to show that we don't know what goes on behind closed doors. Hopefully the young man gets some help but he should have done that before he got suspended.

Wow, no wonder they resigned Dhb. This reminds me of when Holmes was being released and we picked up brown and sanders.
Now we need a olb,cb,s,wr, back cup qb
