The Steelers cap room jumped up to 11 million today according to the NFLPA but no reporter knows what they did to get that much cap relief.

We went back in time and finally cut Cam Thomas. Twice.

While they're back there, they should tear up Cortez Allen's contract.

I'm guessing most or all of that salary cap relief is from extending Timmons.

Did this actually happen? I was assuming it would but hadn't heard anything.

It's just my guess. I believe we were about $4 million under the cap before today, and now it's up to $11 million. The gain of $7 million in cap space is just about half of the $15 mil Timmons was due to get this year, which makes me think he got four or five year extension.

I'm reading its between Raiders and Steelers. Obviously Raiders can outbid us but we are much closer to a championship. Just a question of what Weddle wants more, money or a ring.

Really hoping the Steelers can pull this off, would be a big lift for the secondary, him and Mitchell would be a very good pairing.

Not for the last few years. The Raiders have been steadily getting better. Mckensie has done a decent job with them as their GM.

And he knows that with them being in his division. He knows they are a train wreck.

I read a fluff peice on NFL.com today that said if players want money and want to win the Raiders were the team to join. I thought it was an early april fools joke. You will get money alright, maybe some mercy wins but job security and respectability will be lacking.

I think the Raiders are a good young team... they have a great pass rusher, decent pair of CB's, and a decent young QB and WR combo. With Brock leaving Denver, I think Raiders are in serious contention to win the division.

Yep... I'd hate to see them get good much less great because they've been kicking our tails more often than not their last few bums years

That would actually bode well for the Steelers. If the Raiders were a good team there's probably a higher likelihood we win.

I would hope so, but my eyes have shown me different. We kill em on paper everytime but the results haven't tipped in our favor recently other than last season. Their is truly a rival still there from the 70s crazy.

Honestly just comes down to winning games were supposed to win, but them boys are on the uptick like it or not.

Ahhhhhhh.... I see what you did there hahahaha null and void me.

With the recent defections from the Broncos, and the upgrades so far by Oakland, you've got to like the Raiders chances this coming season. And their not finished because they've got more of that cap money to spend.

Steelers are making the necessary moves to not rely on a rookie to come in and have to start.

Well we beat them November 8 last year at Heinz 38-35, but it was a dog fight right to the end, Del Rio is really coaching them up and he is a defensive coach, so the AFC west and everyone else on their schedule better be ready for a dog fight when they play them this year......
