I am asking a serious question. I don't watch them much. I seen a mock with us doubling up on osu players. Apple and bell.
I know apple is projected as a 1st this mock had us taking bell in the 3rd with Chris jones, a dl, in 2nd.
The question is, are they that good and would it benefit us to have 2 kids that played together. We already have grant and not sure if he will pan out. Are either overrated? I have read apple is supposedly ahead of grant coming out and if we take him I hope he is.
Best way to find out info is ask fans and I know their are a bunch here. Thanks

I'm not a Ohio State fan, but Apple is a way better prospect than Grant ever was he has better size and speed.

Apple is way better than Grant was. Teams usually threw away from him. He has just about everything you want in a cover corner. He has poor tackling form, but that can be fixed.

Bell is another good prospect. He has good ball skills and is pretty good in both coverage and in the box. He can take some whacky angles at times, but he has solid hands and is a pretty safe prospect IMO. Henry high floor, even if he will never be elite in any one area.

I thought the same thing about Holliman last year, so Im a little leery of Apple but there is no denying his coverage skills.

we could take 4-5 OSU players this year off that team and make us better. they are a talented bunch up there. i watched them every week for years. powell, bell, apple, bosa, washington, lee, henry, miller, vannett, elliett and a couple of the O-linemen all would make your team better. don't count grant out just yet either after one year. i'm not just being biased either, these guys are pretty good at what they do. you don't win that many games the last 3-4-5 years without talent.

Apple is very good. And I'd be happy if we came away with him in the first round. He would be the most talented player we've had int he secondary since Troy. Bell too would be a welcomed addition. Personally, upgrading our secondary with our first two selections from the draft is my dream scenerio.

Not disagreeing with u but same thing can be said about bama. It is just sometimes they are the product of system. It doesn't always translate to nfl.

i agree some guys are a product of a system. i think most guys off this defense are pretty solid players though. vannett is as solid a TE in both aspects of the game as is coming out. lee is for real with his speed and powell and bell are solid safeties. apple i'm mixed about. as i am with washington. henry is pretty solid too at LB. maybe not the best fit here though. elliott, miller and bosa are for real but we won't touch them.

What about Perry? He's a good, tough player around the line of scrimmage. Pat Kirwan loves him.

i meant perry and said hunter. he's got nice size but i'm not sure about his pure pass rush ability. he's just never been that style of LB there. i do like him if they think he could be transformed into our scheme. i don't think he would be any worse than jones at this point.

I think your dream scenario has a realistic shot of happening. Supposedly we have been meeting with a bunch of highly rated safeties and corners both at the combine and have formal interviews scheduled with them. We always meet with the guys we take early in the draft.

We will for sure at least take one secondary player in the top 2 rounds. Outside shot at a OL or a DL/pass rusher, but even then I'd be floored if 2 secondary players weren't taken in the first 4 rounds

Same can be said about Bama because they get all the highest rated players out of HS and have all the best athletes on their team. OSU has vaulted onto their level since Meyer has become the coach. We get nothing but top flight athletes at every position.

Not all of these kids will become NFL players, but with the way Meyer recruits there will be NFL players on every Buckeye team he coaches

My friends OSU gets the 4&5 star players out of high school. Urban Meyers knows how to recruit. Can cheat with the best of them.
He knows how to judge talent. Just as SG says there will be multiple NFL players on all OSU teams.
But when the big lights (NFL) go on never hear too much about them. I loved that Michigan State game.

your hate goes deep my friend. i beg to differ with your opinion of when the big lights go on. heyward, allen, shazier, grant, adams. they all won't be super stars but.... philly brown played in the SB this year. mewhort is a starter. linsley is a starter. carlos hyde. whitner, hartline. nugent, hawk. simon. bennett. roby. mangold. boone. laurenitis. ginn. jenkins. the list goes on. :smiley1::cool:

Yeah, but they aren't the top 60 guys in the draft. They meet with guys that go in all different rounds. You won't be able to pin point anything, but the list of players they meet with should at least tell you what positions they are looking at and which rounds they are looking in

Hater! You must've missed the year prior where they won the Big 10 championship game 59-0, beat Bama on a neutral field, then beat Oregon by 22 in the Championship game. Sure, they lost a game this year but they made up for it by beating a solid Notre Dame team up pretty badly in the bowl game...

You're right tho, he does have a good eye for talent. We haven't really seen any of Meyer's OSU recruits in the NFL yet. We have had plenty of good NFL players, but I have a feeling that number is only going to increase with Urban

so two guys didn't make it? out of all the names i put up there and there are more that have made it in the nfl. show me a school that has 100 % rate of players that make it. as ward said when the lights go on you never hear much about them. really? you guys might need a hearing aid. i can see that you don't like the buckeyes on Saturdays but you can't deny they have talent playing there, and always have.

Calm down....just messing with ya. Nobody has 100%. I have never been against drafting anyone from any school. I might hate em in college but if they play for the steelers I love em.

Example...I couldn't stand Hines at georgia. He done everything and had that damn smile on his face then. Came to pitt. Best smile I ever seen.

I was just messing with ya. Just don't act like Ted Ginn isn't a disappointment. Never lived up to his billing lol

i'm not excited about it just stating fact. ginn is still in the nfl and making alot of money playing football. thats still making it. he has his moments. his dad is still feeding the OSU program with players. ohio has alot of good ones to choose from coming out of HS. urban has that southern touch to get them up there too.

I knew this would a be a sour subject :) , I do like Shazier think he has
a world of talent. If he can stay on the field?I also like Grant and advocated thru out the year that he should receive playing time. Heyward isn't half the player his old man
was. (Pitt alum). Of your list Mac a'ren't most of them 4-5 star recruits? Shouldn't these 4-5 star recruits be playing in the NFL?
Has any one of them been voted to a pro bowl? Are any of them game changers? Just asking I don't know? If there not Steelers I really don't care either.

    Really?

    Thad Gibson - Graduated 2010
    Vernon Gholson - Graduated 2008

Urban Meyer took over in 2012

I seem to be missing the correlation, which system are we talking about?
