Congrats to Denver and you know Peyton is a class act and this was a good story. However I was sitting here thinking man we had Denver....this could of been us. Then it hit me, how did Denver make it here they had 2 games after us....they did it with defense, something we just don't have enough of right now. Yeah we are loaded on offense but could we have done what Denver did vs the Pat and Panthers....we will never know.

Now with that said I don't want anyone to think I am taking a shot at our D, I think we have taken a step forward this year. Now we need to keep taking these steps and this could be us next year. I too had the empty feeling in my stomach watching this game for sure.

Of all the teams that played Denver we played the best against them.
All while missing the best WR in the NFL, an All-Pro Running back (a top 3 NFL back) and perhaps the best center in the game. Also the best back up running back in the league.

That being said, we don't even have close to a good enough defense to even be close to Denver. Not so sure we would have beaten the Patriots or the Panthers. Our line should be given kudos for keeping Von Miller under wraps, he tore it up the final two games against the patriots and panthers.

Next year is looking better. We have the 2nd best vegas odds of winning the Super Bowl next year. So we will have a huge target on our backs. I just hope the team doesn't buy into the hype so much.

There is no doubt that our offense should be scary. Defense took a good step this year, hopefully they take a big leap next year.

Definitely free. Peyton tried to choke the game away as usual, but for once he had a good defense to save. If Carolina half showed up for the game Denver gets killed. Congrats Denver, Carolina choked worse than Peyton lol.

I don't understand how people can call that arrogant man a class act. There are numerous stories of what a non-team player he is. Remember the press conference a few years back where he blamed everyone but himself for the loss? Can't stand the classless guy and hope he's finally retiring.

I think we need a splash FA to take us over the top. Defense wins championships, along with our healthy offense I don't see why steelers can't win it all.

Denver won because of their defense, all year long.

I agree it was up for grabs this year, but can't bemoan them the win. The good news is, next year they'll be royally screwed roster-wise.

    The tale of two QB's.

Manning stood up at the podium and had that pouty face because it wasn't all about him. He is a self absorbed regular season wonder. Thank goodness the MVP went to Miller. Now please ride off into the sunset shouting Omaha and eating that nasty pizza you pitch wearing those crawfish shorts...
    Legend :lolol:

Newton. What's to say? Came up small. It was his horrible play that cost them the game. Then he walks off the podium at the post game presser. Epic fail. Stand up and face the music. That's what real Professionals do. Another one self absorbed. This brought back bad memories when O'Dunghead stood up after the loss and didn't shoulder the blame.

So the real story here is Defense. The Steelers need to concentrate heavily on this unit this season and I believe with the fire power they have #7 is right there for the taking. This starts with an upgraded secondary. And more real depth at defensive end. And bringing back James Harrison for his swan song...

Congrats to Denver, this super bowl just confirmed how bad our pass rush from our outside linebackers truly is. To me we need this rush against good quarterbacks like Brady, Cam, Rodgers, etc.

Another concern with our defense is that even if we shore up our secondary this up coming year (which I think we will, since now even Rooney is talking about it), we still are far from having a good pass rush to disrupt a good Quarterback and we give them way too much time. We have young guys on the outside and I know people will say give them time, but you have to see more pass rush potential then what they have shown so far. This is still a weak spot with our team in comparison with pass rushers from super bowl teams.

I don't think we can improve our secondary and pass rush in a year. So next year we will continue to put all the pressure on #7 and our offense to outscore opponents. Totally different from this year.

I agree, I like the whole Manning family, glad he went out on top.

And yes, I don't think odds were in our favor of winning it all if we got past Denver. We know what Brady does to us and Newton would have been a handful with all his abilities. If we won, it would have been a shoot out and not sure we would have been able to do that with Carolinas defense.

Next year, things are headed in the right direction :herewego!:

Congrats to the Broncos. I personally was rooting for the Panthers simply because I have a lot of family in NC but Im ok with how it turned out.

Peyton is retired, his dad Archie said last night he wont be in Denver next year, that pretty much says he's done, not much demand for an old QB with a noodle arm in the market for him, it's about time to get rid of the peyton hype for good, one less prima donna to contend with....

We are not going to win anything until we get improved play from our OLB's. We cannot get any pressure from our OLB's and that is a big problem in the 3-4 defense. It forced us into blitzing way more than we wanted to which opened up big runs and big pass plays. The lack of pass rush from our OLB put our average at best corners into a position they could not win. I do wonder if the lack of pass rush from the OLB's had anything to do with mediocre play at NT. None the less if you cannot pressure the QB in today's NFL your secondary will get destroyed against any decent QB. Add this problem with the fact that our corners are not good and you've got the 30th ranked pass defense in the NFL.

I think the secondary issues are relatively easy to fix. The issue at OLB is not an easy fix. We have to hope for improvement from Jarvis Jones and Bud Dupree. I can see Bud improving. I cannot see Jones being anything more than he is now. So we must use a 1st or 2nd round pick on an OLB. As much as that sucks it's the truth. We also need corners and safeties but I think we can address those issues in FA and early in the draft as well.

BTW that superbowl stunk. Mediocre football at it's best. The only thing interesting was Denver's defense. Both teams were not super by any stretch. Made me realize just how over rated the Panthers were.

honestly yes if we had elite OLB we would do better but I believe our secondary needs to be addressed first. This team can get coverage sacks and turnovers. Will not be as good as Denver but top 5 easily. Stop the run. Give our D line time to get to the QB and try to get a TO if possible. Offense fails us the most considering what it is.

I thought if Denver lost Peyton was gonna come back for one final year and do the whole it's my last year thing. I would have been fine with that, the guy is good, yeah he is is a little on the Brady side when he gets hit but oh well not every team can have a Big Ben! I really thought if he lost we might see him come back as a Jet. They need a QB and he could be right there with his brother. I could still see it happening but the safe money is he is done.

What the last 3 Super Bowls have shown is yes, it's a passing league but good dbs win Championships. Whats killed us is all these years of drafting linebackers. Turn those into corners like the Panthers and Broncos and we are winning Super Bowls. You can find serviceable linebackers in FA. Nobody lets good dbs go.

The way the Team values and evaluates the CB and Safety positions is a huge joke .I got clowned for saying we needed to go CB,CB,FS or SS with the first 3 picks last year or move up and get Peters . Just look back at the last 5 years drafts and look at the CB'S took right before us and then look at the ones took right after us in the first 3 rounds ...If you do this you will see a huge problem as other Teams are hitting ,hell I have been hitting I think every early DB i have suggested in mock drafts has lived up to what I expected except for Taylor Mays..I missed huge on him , but I usually liked at least 2 in each round for the last 5 years missing on 1 while the Steelers have none of those guys and just keep missing ...

I think the BPA approach is not well suited for getting good DB'S .We need to start targeting them and stop playing it safe. To me BPA is only effective when you already have 45 real good players and no position is weak . If a position is weak then it's time to target it's time to reach it's time to trade . KC and Mike T are not doing that . If Coach T really thinks this group of DB'S are ok then we have a huge problem...If we cut everyone of them probably only 2 of them would land a job .

Stop with the "That should've been the Steelers" talk. There was no way (okay, maybe about a .1% chance) that the Steelers would have gone into Foxboro and won that game. It would have been a Patriots walk over.

I hear you man. I've been screaming draft a corner since Ike Taylor was the "best" on our roster. I agree about BPA as well especially when there's no linebacker that doesn't look good to this team.
