To me it proves that the FO and the coaches are not on the same page with the hiring. If Randy WAS / IS the favorite why hasnt he been promoted as of yet? Tomlin is talking with Haley, and to others about the guy as well. To me it seems as though the vote swings to Haley? Thats my take on it. Just dont think Randy is the fav regardless of what Ben thinks, or where he was last week (Probowl) as his input means something, but it shouldnt be based on his alone. Also, somebody check Haleys numbers b/c I think he is a balanced OC guy as he had some good RB's on his teams but never a QB like Ben. This team wont be running 60% or more in games b/c it is not built for that. My guess is we still pass next season and beyond. The line is not a "RB kind" line

Well it's just media speculation that Randy was the favorite. Time will tell if it was right or not.

As for Haley not a having a good QB...He had Warner for his QB in Ari when he was the OC.

Yeah like others said...you've got the whole media mess in there. Plus I think its great the Steelers are doing the due diligence and interviewing all possible candidates to find the best fit and just not saying "oh ok lets just promote a guy whos already here and move on" or whatever like they've done in the past.

That Arizona team that just about left us in a tie with the Cowboys and 49ers seemed to have a pretty good offense.

Kurt Warner is usually looked upon as a future hall of famer... maybe not in the same light as ben. Also the Arizona team was far from balanced, way way pass heavy offense. That's the curious part of it to me. Yes he had a good RB in KC when he was healthy, but his AZ resume is pass pass and more pass. 2007: Passing 4085 Rushing 1400 (4th & 29th) 2008: Pass 4670 Run 1150 (2nd & 32nd)

Ironically in KC the reverse was true with a stronger running game 1st in 2010 & 30th in passing. So it's hard to figure out which direction he could go.

evidently not good enough. do we need to just fall short here? kc was not a big scoring offense. how much of ariz. was haley and how much was whiz responsible for it? haley was fired, so was jackson as they fell short also. i'm just not wanting one of these guys just for change sake. we want to improve offensively, not move backwards.

Don't get me wrong. I would love to see us pounding the football. But I think the main part of why we hated BA was the fact that his plays were so ridiculous and uncreative. I would sacrifice the running game for a good passing game as long as it made sense and didn't have guys running 20 yard routes and stupid bubble screens and empty backfields in the red zone. The problem I think really was that BA was just inconceivably stupid in how he approached the gameplan. Not that he threw too much. Maybe Haley would just bring some kind of clarity or reason to the offense which could really make us deadly.

I don't think Tomlin will hire Haley because Haley is a very strong personality and I can see Tomlin being a little threatened by that. I hope Haley gets the job because I think he would be just what the doctor ordered, but it's a long shot.

This tells me he knows how to play to the strengths of his offensive unit. If we had Matt Cassel starting and a stable of crap WR we would be running a lot more than we do now. And who can tell me who the staring RBs were for AZ when he was there? I know I have no clue, because they sucked. Give the man an offense with the all-over talent we have and I think he can do great things.
