If not for two plays, we're 8-0 in Super Bowls. Now I realize that this is hypothetical but think about this for a minute. The Steelers had grabbed the momentum against the Cowboys in Super Bowl 30 when Neil O'Dummy kept mistaking Larry Brown for Yancey Thigpen. We were driving to potentially tie the game or even go ahead when NO threw it right in Brown's breadbasket. All of a sudden the momentum was GONE like the wind. In Super Bowl 45 against the Packers, same situation. We had clearly grabbed the momentum. Our defense had stepped it up and our offense was moving the ball at will for the go ahead score and then, BAM!, Mendenhall fumbles with an assist from David Johnson.

Two plays. Momentum lost. Two Super Bowl losses.

I've kind of put this behind me. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.
The win against the Cowboys would have been huge, that was the best team of the 90's.

Having 7 against their 4 and being 3-0 against them wouldve been sweet.

If Jackie Smith doesn't drop that pass. Maybe the Steelers would have won only 3 super bowls in the 70's.

To hard for me to analyze these types of plays. Each play on O and D influences how the remainder of the game ends up. There are no guarantees that reversing a bad play leads to positive results.

I thought for sure this was another if Burflict didn't tackle Bell and hit Brown conversation. I can't stand that guy.

And if OPI isn't called in SB 40....

And if James Harrison blitzes instead of dropping back into coverage in 43....

Thinking you are reaching, Jack. We were behind in both instances. It would be different if we were ahead and NOD pick six led to Dallas taking the lead. And I think we were only around the fifty on Mendys fumble. Long way to go.

Maybe we go on to win both those games but far from a forgone conclusion to make the claim we'd be 8-0.

Corey Holliday ran the wrong route and/or Andre Hastings broke the wrong hot read. Stop blaming Neil!

Yeah, but the same thing happened earlier in the game so he should have suspected it would happen again. Neil should have seen it at the last moment and thrown it into the ground.

I feel the same way. We were behind in both games and had a chance at the end in both. However, the game against the Cowturds was the one of these two I thought we were going to pull it out. Much more of a momentum swing in that game. In the Packer loss, we were outplayed and barely hung on to have a chance at the end. There was no momentum, just a chance.

And Santonio doesn't make his catch, they could have been 4-4.

What if tuck rule isn't called, do we beat Raiders?

Not likely. That was a very bad matchup for us that year. You saw what happened the next year in our home opener when Gannon chucked the ball 64 times and threw for over 400yrds and they beat us 30-17. Had the Tuck Rule not happened, we would have gone to Oakland to play the Raiders in a building that we are 3-8 at all-time.

if we had brought in Steven Jackson and not used some practice squad RB
we would be playing for NUMBER NINE in a week
    NUMBER NINE
    NUMBER 9
    NUMBER 9
    NUMBER 9
    NUMBER 9
    NUMBER 9
    hold that point

That steven Jackson boat sailed in 04 after we drafted Ben in the 1st round and we didnt trade back up to get him, I did a mock that year on the old board where I had us trading back up in the 1st round to get jackson, Cowher wanted jackson so I thought just maybe we trade back up to get him, that would have been a hell of a solid draft had we went after him in that draft.....

Why do you disagree about trading up for jackson 412?
