I will admit I didn't watch Stanford much. not a pac 10 fan. I have seen him linked to us in the mid rounds. specifically 4th. first question is, is that to early to take any qb for us? second, he is pretty good? I mean I know he is a multi year starter but aren't they mostly a play action team?

I know a lot of people are saying this draft is weak at qb and depending what happens in the SR bowl and combine his stock could rise cause of that. I have talked about him here for the same reason you said, I only watched him a little and what I have seen I liked. I don't think it is to early, with the way Ben gets hit especially. If Ben has 3 years left then now is a pretty good time to draft a guy imo. I hope Ben has more years but who knows.

I'd be fine with taking Hogan in the 4th. QB is an important position and he's worth taking a look at.

I wouldn't totally hate it. He's a winner, and I know that's the kind of QB we look for. I think we have more pressing needs, but if we think the kid can play then I don't see why not.

I wouldn't mind the pick. They also have a blue chip guard prospect don't they? I wouldn't mind their Heisman trophy runner up RB either, is he coming out?

I'm a PAC 12 guy, watched Hogan play would only take him as a late rd pick or UDFA. This team has too many needs on defense to use a 4th rd pick on a QB.

I think they will wait 2 more years to look for Bens successor.

And for a back up, they will go the FA route.

Yeah I think you're right. I read more on the guy and while he still seems like a good prospect, his passing ability apparently needs some major work. While I'm generally liberal with spending picks on QB's, I now think he's a 6/7 guy at best, maybe FA. I said 4th earlier, but I change that stance.

I would still be ok with taking a QB early, it just has to be the right one. Not sure if there is one in this draft or not (for us).

Just re-sign Gradkowski if he's healthy.

While I agree with what your saying I also feel that it all depends on what we do in fa. And I am not talking about us being big spenders we all know that don't happen I am talking about how many guys we sign and how many positions we address. We are going to be missing our 5th and 6th pick so I feel we have to be a player in fa and if we aren't we can't spend a pick on a qb this year, imo.

As far as this Hogan goes I have not watch a whole lot of him but I like what I am reading about him. He comes with a lot of experience and from a good program and let's not forget he is coming here to back up and learn from one of the best. This is a situation where maybe he is the #3 this year and then takes the step to be a #2 for a few years and at that time we should know if he takes the next step or not. While all that time not costing us a whole lot playing on his rookie contract.

i'm not sure its too early to take a qb. i don't think its actually THE guy to take over for ben yet but another guy to see if maybe he is. this would give us two guys molded through our system that are pretty decent and may evolve into THAT guy. if not w have two seasoned backups that we could win with until the successor is ready and found at that time. i think landry will keep evolving and if we get our 3rd guy to do the same with, this would be a good time to start the process. if nothing else we have two decent backups in our system with a good deal of experience at that time. the cupboard wouldn't be totally bare.

i like hogan and i like the kid from bama or several others like kessler. there are some good qbs in this draft, maybe not elite, but good.

Hogan has some large hands, so that's good. 10 1/8". I think that's an important trait. 2nd largest at the Senior Bowl according to an NFL.com article. Not Russell Wilson territory (I think he was 11"), but still good.

After watching the SR Bowl really could tell much from Hogan, he had a nice roll out pass but then took the ill advised sack. Still liking this kid as a 4th and I feel could be a very good #2 for a few years as for a replacement for Ben who knows but right now I am not looking for that I am looking for a guy who could be a solid #2.

True, I get a load of PAC 12 ball to watch, Hogan had a good season this year, for one reason, Christian McCaffery, but Hogan cant carry a team on his own merits, he is more in the mold of a Chase Daniels, he certainly isnt a franchise QB, so pass on Hogan......

With the holes the Steelers have on defense and not having 5th or 6th rd picks, they should not be using a 4th rd pick on a QB.

That all depends what they do in FA, if they fill hole there then it makes the draft wide open.
