Nix And Hubbard Extended, 10 Signed To Futures Contracts

    The Steelers have signed Roosevelt Nix and Chris Hubbard to 1 year extensions.

    The following 10 players have been signed to futures contracts: S Jordan Dangerfield, OT Matt Feiler, C/G B.J Finney, DB Isaiah Frey, TE Xavier Grimble, DE Cashaud Lyons, RB Rajion Neal, WR Shakim Phillips, RB Abou Toure and S Ray Vinpoal.

    Glad Nix is under contract, not as excited about Hubbard, but that's okay. Glad B.J. Finney is still in the mix too, maybe he cracks the 53 man roster next year.

    I was very pleasantly surprised when Hubbard got the call. I can't remember which game, but AV got shaken up and left for several plays. They put Hubbard in at LT and I was thinking "run Ben, run." I watched Hubbard closely, and he did pretty well. I don't know much about his background, but I'd venture a guess that he played some LT in college.

    Glad they plan on keeping Nix. He was a pleasant surprise this year.

    Yup. With an offseason of training as a FB rather than a DT I think he'll be even better next year.

    Glad nix is signed. Since Eli Rogers was IRed he is still on the team right? I thought he showed the most potential of all the rookie WRs Coates and Murphy included.

    thats what he played in college elvis. guard and center are his new spots. i think he eventually turns into a good utility guy at all those spots. he also played a lot as that 3rd tackle/TE this year. munch does good work. :cool:

    Nix was a blocking and special teams beast. I'm glad he is back next year.
    I'm also a BJ Finney fan, hopefully he comes to training camp ready to go. He might crack a roster spot this year.

    I don't like dressing 2 FBs. They don't use 1 FB other than goal line stuff.

    Rather the spot go to a SP team ace.

    And get a new punter! Even if it costs a 4th round pick! Haha.

    I'll echo what others have said - Nix is a good thing, and glad we've extended him. Would have liked to have seen a longer deal, tbh.

    Hagen's a big dude, 6'3" 205. Worth a look at least and Richardson was a starter for the Rams last year wasn't he?
