was listening to the radio. a local station, when a guy ask the other guy about bens health and if he was really injured. they talked for a few and then ask "if you are a steelers fan and at the first of the year I told you ben would miss games and be banged up some, pouncey is gone for the year in week 1 or 2, bell is not only suspended but misses over half the year with injury, Bryant is suspended, you lose your starting left tackle and backup running back. along with all the other bumps and bruises that every team goes through.
oh yeah, you have 4 kickers and end up with a kid that has no experience. do you even have a shot at a winning season let along the playoffs?"

I would bet if that question was asked on here in august, it would have been 80% or higher no chance.

    Great job

I guess I might be a little too callous or a little too old school but I just don't really believe in participation trophies and moral victories. I'm sure I will tell all the outsiders how proud I am of how far we were able to make it by just limping but deep down I'm incredibly let down, not by this SEASON, but by the game we just played. Sure it's all well and good to get to round 2 BUT when you show up and by all accounts out play a team and then lose to them all the other stuff becomes of little to no consolation.

Tomlin was actually asked in his presser if he "took solace" in how far the team made it this far with all the adversity and he literally cut the reporter off and got really stern and said "We're not in to that" and the reporter goes "What?" and he goes "We're not in to that". Then he asked for the next question. If you want to know what I appreciate the most about Tomlin it is all in that statement that he just made twice.

Well, we did make it further than last year. At this rate, we should have # 7 in 2 or 3 years.

Well then I guess this explains why Roger wants to expand the regular season and playoffs. LOL!

Add to the OP- that we were playing one of the hardest schedules ever. Many were saying 8-8 or 9-7 tops when the schedule came out last year.

i think that's the point though. Tomlin, the players, etc SHOULD feel that way.

Fans... aren't participants. They can get off their high horse and appreciate what this team did this year.

I'm totally in agreement with Tomlin. A wise man once said anything less than the best is a felony.

Bengals imploded or it was another first round exit at the gloved, ungloved, gloved, ungloved hands of AJ McCarron.

    The effort was there.

A lot of young players got good experience.

The 2011 draft class finally got a playoff win.

Steelers were 30 minutes from a shot at the Super bowl.

It wasn't a bad season but to me it doesn't erase 5 years with hardly any noise in the playoffs.

It is a shame because when you think about it, Ben only lost 3 games. We would've beat the Patriots with a kicker, and 2 of the 4 games he didn't even play.
We probably shouldn't have made the playoffs, but we did. The injury could've stopped Ben but he didn't let it. The AB injury- we let it stop us. This is the NFL... there's absolutely no reason that our other receivers couldn't step up, get open, & catch the ball. Even Heath dropped one or 2.
We didn't get beat because of injuries, we didn't get beat because they were the better team. We got beat because we didn't- this is the word a couple of the players used- execute. The players didn't do their jobs.
