Being the QB coach, under Cam Cameron, a much better gig than being OC in Pittsburgh.

Tellin' ya folks: something's not right with our team right now.

Maybe we didn't offer him the job. "Thanks for the interview. Think we're going to go a different way."

"Ok, cool, I'll go to Balt and be... Cam Cameron's assistant?!?!? FML" :roflmao:

Or maybe its what they did to Bruce Arians. He saw that and wants no part of Pittsburgh. Just sayin. ;)

Wow, what a fall from grace, from HC to QB coach

As for the OP's statement, you act as if he turned the OC position down to go be a QB coach. Could it be more likely that the Steelers didn't offer him the position

What did they do to BA??? Fire him you mean? Every team in the league fires a coach at one point or another and they manage to hire replacement personnel....if the job was offered to Caldwell he would have taken it over being a QB coach in a heartbeat.

Whew, we dodged a bullet there - that interview scared me! Now let's go out an hire an OC that will help us be the offensive juggernaut we all want!

Whew! Close call! Glad we don't have to worry about him coming here now. I mean seriously. How bad do you have to be to be the HC just a couple seasons removed from a SB title and you run it into the ground and now the best you can do is as a QB coach for Joe Flunko and the Baltimoron ratbirds? Not really a hotbed of NFL QB talent. He is who we thought he was.

Peyton definitely runs the show there. Caldwell was only a fill in.

I'll bet my next pay check that Manning doesn't play another down as the Indy QB.

Yeah, there's no way thats happening. A more risky bet would be if he plays another down in the NFL period? 3 neck surgeries in 19 months, thats a heck of a risk not only for Peyton but also any team that takes a chance on him. For the record, I think he will, just don't have any idea who. Not going to be team with a swiss cheese line I can tell you that.

    Agree.

He's clearly not the answer to boost our offense.

We will never win another game now that Caldwell is leaving our ranks. Expect Burt to surpass all QB records now! I only hope we can hire an OC that could have carried Caldwell's jock... signed: crack head

No one turns down an OC position to be a QB coach. He took what was left. I also don't see anyone turning down a chance to be with the Steelers to be with Baltimore.

Ah, no. That would be the guy the Rooneys just ran out of town, back to Indianapolis.

You mean the guy that we gave 5 years of our lives to (that we'll never get back)... to give us an offense to match our dreaded defense's potential.... that finished 21st in scoring. As even Arians said himself, this was the longest he had ever been at any job in the same capacity. We gave him ample opportunity to adjust, he chose not to.... so he's moved on.

The NFL is a strange employment animal, what other industries offer contracts or jobs after the 1st interview? It's fairly common in the NFL, but you can't blame us for not offering anything. Everyone knows Peyton was the OC in Indy, Caldwell was just along for the ride.

And two Super Bowl appearances in those 5 years. I have to ask, do you want them back?

Let's not give our offense too much credit. Our offensive stats for Super bowl 43 were mediocre at best 240 yards passing 58 rushing... our defense (Harrison) bailed us out big time. We won that SB despite BA, not because of BA. We've heard Ben say many times that he calls the plays in the 2 minute drills... so Ben did call a great final drive, but for the entire game our offense was pathetic

Do we have to give back the Super Bowl win that Carey Davis was a part of? Justin Hartwig? Darnell Stapleton? Everybody in the universe knows that we won a Super Bowl despite those guys being a part of the team, not because of it. And yet for BA, it's because of? Yeah, what a great job he did. In the AFCCG against Baltimore, for example, when the game was won by a completely improvised Ben-Santonio pass on a broken play and a Troy Polamalu INT return for a TD. Or in the Super Bowl, when the game was won by a James Harrison spotting us 14 points, and more Ben-Santonio improvisation. That last thing, by the way, I read about in an article defending Arians, calling him the architect of that SB winning drive.

I guess if you didn't see the game and were watching the play-by-play on NFL.com, it could appear that way. But for those that watched the game, it was pretty clear that our lack of coordination on offense was bailed out by the defense and skill of individual offensive players. But if you want to say BA won us a Super Bowl, go ahead. Next you can talk about all the times Kemoeatu was in, but the play didn't result in a sack. MAN, that guy can pass protect!
