for crying out loud were in the playoffs. Steelers aren't even playing this game if brown didn't get hurt. yes,its unfortunate but we have to move on. All the experts are giving us zero chance. Only the Steelers could lose to Ryan mallet and beat Peyton Manning in the same year.

    Lets do this !!!

My contribution to the waxing poetic legend of RS: Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm schizophrenic - and so am I.

You've got a better head fake than AB Mr Steel. Tis a puzzlement!

My head tells me this will be a lose by 20 points. The Broncos on a week off' healthy, Manning practice for two weeks now, us with no AB, no Dwill, and a beat up QB stand NO chance in. This game. My heart tells me that this team will roll out a gameplan like Haley used in KC. Dink and dunk ball all day long. Quick passes to protect Ben, and pray the D does something. Hard to say how this goes, but we are here, and it's amazing to look at how this year has played out to think we are two games away form SB 50!

Speaking about gambling- the Steelers are now 9 1/2 point dogs I hear. Trying to think if they have ever that big an underdog in a playoff game before-

    other contenders would be
    84 @ Denver (won)
    89 @ Houston (won)
89 @ Denver (lost but would have covered)
SB XXX v Dallas (lost by 10).

I will try and look this up.

to start answering my own questions- I don't know about the 1984 or 1989 games, but I do know this-

SB XXX is probably the biggest underdog- Dallas was favored by 13 1/2, but the Steelers covered
In the 1984 AFC Championship game, the Steelers were a 9 1/2 point underdog to Miami, and lost by 17.

I was going to bet all 4 games this weekend @ $500.00 a game but changed my mind and bet $1,000.00 on the Steelers to win and took the points and bet $1,000.00 on the under. I really think the Steelers will win outright, but if Vegas wants to give me points, who am I to argue. After Sunday, only 2 more games left to win #7.

Pessimism is only natural when you lose your stars for a playoff game. I am old enough to remember the AFC Title game in '76 when Franco and Rocky were out. It wasn't pretty.

I remember that game too- they let in a killer TD just before halftime, and the second half just sucked. But it's important to remember that they lost that game on defense too. They let in 24 points.

Any rood, here is the result of my point spread research:

The highest line I saw today on this game was the Broncos at 9 1/2. The Steelers have only been a bigger underdog in the playoffs 3 times

1984- AFC Championship v. Miami, 10 point dog, lost by 17.
1989- Divisional Round v. Denver- 10 point dog, lost 24-23 but covered.
1996- Super Bowl XXX- 13 1/2 point dog, covered the spread but lost by 10.

I think Ben is going to struggle without AB, Denver defense will play a lot better than the last time they played. I have a feeling Ben is going to force things and throw 2-3 ints, I hope I'm wrong.

I agree with Real Steel. We got this!

We ALWAYS have a chance with Ben. They said that he was throwing the ball 40 yards today & could've thrown it further. They'll give him something to help with the pain.
Obviously I'd love to have AB. The (only) upside to not having AB is that Ben won't be able to try & force it to him. Hopefully his he'll be able to see the whole field a little better.
In AB's absence, we have guys who can step up & get it done.
As far as running the ball, DeAngelo didn't have much luck last game. Maybe Fitz & Todman will.
Lastly, Peyton is fragile. He has the weight of the world on him right now. Sadly, this is probably his last chance. If we can get up the middle & make him move, he's gonna make bad throws. Osweiler has a knee injury. He hasn't practiced. He'll probably end up dressing as s backup, but don't be surprised if they dress 3 QB's.
